Summary
The Staff Accountant supports the dealership's accounting operations by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role works closely with dealership departments, including Sales, Service, Parts, and Finance, to support accurate reporting and operational efficiency.
A Day in the Life May Include
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including vehicle, parts, service, inventory, WIP, and fixed asset accounts
- Prepare and post journal entries and support month-end and year-end close processes
- Reconcile bank, credit card, inventory, and any other accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Support dealership accounting operations across Sales, Service, Parts, AP/AR, including audit and reporting support
- Prepare financial statements, schedules, and management reports while ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls
Qualifications
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 2–4 years of accounting experience preferred
- Experience in a dealership, automotive, or truck industry strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced dealership environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
