About the Centre

The Boroondara Leisure and Aquatic Facilities and is managed by YMCA Victoria and includes Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre, Boroondara Sports Complex, Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure Centre and Kew Recreation Centre (opening 2027).

This role offers the opportunity for an experienced recreation professional to lead the Stadiums & Facility Bookings portfolios across Ashburton Pool & Recreation Centre, Boroondara Sports Complex, and Kew Recreation Centre. The Stadiums Manager will oversee User Groups, Bookings & Allocations for Aquatics, Room Hire, and Stadiums, and Competitions, and will play a key role in the establishment of the Stadiums facilities at Kew Recreation Centre.

About the role

This role offers the opportunity for an experienced recreation professional to lead the Stadiums & Facility Bookings portfolios across Ashburton Pool & Recreation Centre, Boroondara Sports Complex, and Kew Recreation Centre.

The Stadiums Manager will report to the Centre Manager (Boroondara Sports Complex), and will oversee User Groups, Bookings & Allocations for Aquatics, Room Hire, and Stadiums, and Competitions, and will play a key role in the establishment of the Stadiums facilities at Kew Recreation Centre.

The role requires strong attention to detail, administration, and communication skills. Stakeholder Management is a core component of this role, along with seasonal facility booking allocations. This role holds relationships with and is the primary contact for over 100 User Groups that utilise the Boroondara Leisure & Aquatics Facilities.

About you

As Stadiums Manager, you will be a considered decision maker and will be able to manage a multitude of tasks utilising good time management and organisational skills. Additionally, you will be:

  • Confidently present the YMCA to the local community as well as provide leadership and vision for the facility and its staff.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of the leisure team.
  • Excellent oral and written communicator, you will be able to work in partnership with the City of Boroondara team as well as other community groups to develop programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
  • Self-motivated, able to engage staff and the community and will be able to drive the business, while maintaining the assets under your control.
  • Organised and have a demonstrated ability to engage staff and improve business performance, with strong project management skills.
  • Focused on the customer experience and cultivate a culture of continuous learning amongst the staff teams.
  • Have strong general business and financial acumen.
  • Be able to foster a culture of safety at the facility and have experience managing risk

This is a permanent, full Time position with a renumeration package of $99,326 + Superannuation + Y benefits.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have previous experience in an Aquatics & Leisure or Local Government environment, leading teams and Stakeholders for a minimum of 3-5 years. Experience working in Stadiums is preferred but not essential.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Sports Management, Business Management, or other related field will be highly regarded
  • Previous leadership experience is essential
  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
