The Beasley Group is seeking motivated individuals to join our sawmill team in Hazlehurst as a Stacker Apprentice. This is an excellent opportunity to start a hands-on career in the lumber industry with a company committed to safety, training, and long-term employee growth.
Position Overview
Stacker Apprentice is responsible for learning the safe and efficient stacking, sorting, and handling of lumber in a fast-paced sawmill environment. This entry-level role provides on-the-job training and a clear path to advancement within mill operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Stack and sort lumber by size, grade, and production requirements
- Ensure boards are aligned properly and prevent jams in the stacking system
- Monitor lumber flow from sawmill equipment to maintain efficiency
- Remove defective or damaged boards to support quality standards
- Assist with banding, tagging, and preparing finished bundles
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment (housekeeping duties)
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications
Required:
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
- Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
Preferred:
- High school diploma or GED, but no required.
- Previous experience in a sawmill, manufacturing, or labor role
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and stack lumber repeatedly
- Stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
- Work in varying temperatures, noise levels, and dusty conditions

Work Environment
- Industrial sawmill setting with exposure to moving machinery
- Required use of PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots
- Overtime, weekends, and shift work may be required
