Job Description
Cornerstone Co-op invites applications for the position of Meat Manager to lead our Meat Team at our Food Store in St. Paul, Alberta. This full-time leadership role reports to the Food Store Manager.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Meat department, including ordering, receiving, inventory management, merchandising, warehousing and shrink control.
- Plan organize, and execute departmental operations to meet customer needs, sales targets, margin goals, and business objectives.
- Lead and support the Meat team through scheduling, training, coaching, performance management, and talent development, while fostering a positive and engaging work environment.
- Ensure department ordering schedules, inventory control programs, receiving procedures, and merchandising standards are followed.
- Plan and execute promotions, displays, and marketing initiatives that drive sales and support departmental targets.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, food safety requirements, brand standards and asset protection practices.
- Complete annual planning, goal setting, budgeting, and talent management activities for the department.
- Provide outstanding customer service to member-owners and customers, including professionally resolving customer concerns and ensuring a positive Co-op experience.
- Be actively engaged on the sales floor, leading by example and supporting team workflow and customer service.
- Complete required administrative duties accurately and on time, including inspections, reporting, and other departmental documentation.
- Demonstrate behaviours and actions that align with and strengthen the Co-operative’s vision, mission, values, brand, and commitment to safety.
- Be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays on a rotational basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Who you are:
- You have Grade 12 education combined with experience in retail grocery or leadership.
- You possess strong leadership skills and enjoy coaching and developing a team.
- You are able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs. Loads exceeding 50 lbs will be managed with lifting equipment or assistance in accordance with safety guidelines.
- You can successfully complete required background checks, including a Criminal Record Check and credit check.
- You have a valid Class-5 driver’s license and can provide a satisfactory 5-year standard driver’s abstract.
- You are action oriented, customer focused and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced dynamic work environment.
- You are proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and can manage files and administrative documentation.
- You are honest, trustworthy, results-driven and strive for excellence in your work.
- You believe in building relationships and collaborating with others to achieve shared goals.
- You are customer-focused and passionate about delivering exceptional service.
