Under minimum supervision, works from drawings and specifications sheets, ARC, MIG and TIG weld tank plates, sheets, tubes, radiators, stainless steel inserts and fittings on any size or type of transformer. Welds must be uniform in penetration, neat in appearance, and oil tight on tank plates, sheets, radiators, covers, inserts, rims, and tubes.
Requires ability for vertical, horizontal and overhead welding. Must have a knowledge of the distortion effects of welding heat, and must be able to keep distortion to a minimum. Responsible for checking parts for compliance with prints before welding. Set up and operate hand and machine acetylene burning equipment; locate from drawings and burn openings in tanks and components. May perform brazing and aluminum welding on transformer conductors and conductor assemblies. May check tanks for leaks, remove weld splatter, dirt and scale, clean tanks and parts as required. Perform other assigned duties elsewhere in the department as needed. Welders are required to be certified.

Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent plus at least two (2) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
Additional Skills Required
Strong work ethic. Excellent attendance and quality of work record. Able to read a tape measure. Working understanding of math. Must have knowledge of distortion effects of welding heat. Must be forklift certified Crane and hoist training Vertical, horizontal, and overhead welding ability required. Pulmonary function test required
