Job Description

The Development & Validation Manager for SRT Transmission and Drivelineis responsible for developing and validatingthe transmission and driveline system and subsystems. You will work closely with other engineer groups interacting with the transmission and driveline, including, but not limited to transmission & driveline hardware, software, calibration, thermal management, and engine engineering organizations. The D&V engineer is responsible for collaborating with Stellantis and supplier calibration engineers to integrate and validate the low level and high level software & calibrations of the transmission and driveline controllersThe D&V Engineer is also responsible for vehicle and STLA-responsible system and subsystem bench test execution to ensure functional objectives and durability goals are met. This includes test planning, Bill-of-material development, test cell setup and debug, test schedule development, root cause analysis of test stoppages throughout the test and finally to lead the test article inspection and report following the end of each testThe engineer will initiate root cause analysis and solution development process in the case of test failures are identified

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage Quality Total Warranty Cost cross functional task force teams, create priorities, action plans and track progress, align and update initiatives list
  • First responder to Component Quality Analysis Team New Emerging Issue alerts
  • Interacting with DSE, MFG and DRE to develop the next steps plan, document the plan to the team
  • Coordinate any next steps and track progress working side by side with DSE/DRE setting up plans or tests needed
  • Updating status and results into GIMS, our Quality Initiatives documents and QEC teardown results database
  • Manages the development of the Applications Matrix including all interface requirements for given programs including all variants and various vehicle platforms
  • Coordinates packaging studies with each vehicle application to ensure all clearance requirements are metLeads advanced vehicle adaptation designs studies and freezes
  • Updates and coordinates approvals of International Product Spec releases
  • Updates and coordinates approvals of owner's manuals
  • Updates and coordinates approvals of CP, Compliance Report Standards
  • Negotiates requirements with vehicle platforms based on product limitations and capabilities
  • Owns the Transmission Technical Specifications (TTS) and communicates application specific requirements to the team (i.e. max torque, NVH, FE, tire size, FDR selection, mass, etc.)
  • Defines and tracks adherence to robust vehicle level and system level/sub-system functional objectives
  • Coordinates external design changes that require platform approvalPerform TOS as required
  • Develops, manages & communicates external issues and change management.
  • Responsible for the review and approval of the Application Checklist for each CN
  • Coordination of application specific designs (torque converter, dampers, vents, LV & HV wire connections, bracket attachments, trans oil cooling, PIM and e-motor integration, etc) including controls & calibration strategies
  • Represents chief organization on vehicle assembly plant requirements & events (i.e. supports pilot builds, EOL test, VIN marking, build issues, etc.)Development Manager leads vehicle assembly issuesAE supports.
  • Leads Build Readiness tasks (instrumentation plan, dyno support)
  • Coordinates COE assessments of bulletins and AT engineering response to bulletins
  • Manage prototype hardware procurements and ED&D reqs
  • Manage BRT (Build Readiness Team) for prototype orders
  • Lead for shipping & receiving parts/transmissions for builds to/from suppliers

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree field
  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in automotive design, releasing, development, validation, calibration, manufacturing, program management, etc
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outllook, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering and/or Business Administration
  • Engineering experience in the automotive industry
