To become the best bank of Europe central capital management and capital velocity are of paramount importance to ING Wholesale Banking (‘WB’). To realize the WB growth and profit ambition, the WB Capital & Models team is mandated to steer the WB balance sheet and to optimize the use of capital. Capital optimization is about ensuring we invest in the right sectors and countries but also redeploying capital via distribution techniques (capital velocity). In this playing field, data is the main driver of our decision making and the Capital Reporting & Analytics team delivers the data and analytics.
Your role
We are looking for an experienced analyst, who will become part of the Capital Reporting and Analytics team. The data analysts will collect, analyze and report on product, finance and risk data. Generated insights are shared and discussed with other teams, senior management and business, providing robust evidence to support data driven decision making. We use our state-of-the-art dashboards to underpin strategic and tactical decisions.
Having one of the most mature data platforms in WB, we are continuously onboarding new data sources and looking for new ways to make data available to our stakeholders. Advanced tooling (R/Python) is used to bring our platform to the next level. As a Data Analyst, you will be working in close cooperation with your team members in Amsterdam (7FTE) and our dedicated DevOps team in Bucharest (5 FTE).
A key part of your role focuses on in‑life management of Significant Risk Transfers (SRTs), including timely replenishment, reporting, analytics, and onboarding of new transactions. SRTs sit at the heart of ING Wholesale Banking’s strategy, releasing capital to enhance RoE and enable new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain analytical dashboards and data models for management reporting and steering the FO.
Extract, transform, and validate data from multiple source systems.
Ensure data lineage, controls, and auditability are embedded in analytical solutions.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications and vice versa.
Focus will be on the SRT (Significant Risk Transfer) in life management in close cooperation with the Capital management team.
Data Analytics & Engineering
Strong Power BI skills: data models, DAX, dashboard design, and performance optimization.
Skilled in R for automation, data manipulation, and reproducible analytics.
Experienced with Vortex (front‑end), SA VAA, and underlying data structures.
Ability to build clean, modular, and reusable code and data pipelines.
Data Quality, Controls & Documentation
Skilled at validating data across multiple source systems and ensuring auditability and lineage.
Able to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications.
Produces high‑quality documentation (data flows, business logic, test plans).
Experience designing and executing test cases and performing peer reviews.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to diagnose issues independently and propose structural solutions.
High attention to detail, especially when working with regulatory‑relevant data.
Collaborative team player with experience in cross‑functional agile environments.
