The GlobalFoundries tax operations is growing. We are looking for an Experienced Tax Manager to join our tax team to effectively manage an in-house Tax Operations Center of Excellence (COE) to standardize, scale, and execute tax operations globally while working with leadership to achieve operational goals. This role is to support our transfer pricing efforts across the company as a Tax Manager with the U.S. Tax Compliance & Reporting team, you will be responsible for the Company's overall U.S. federal and multistate compliance and reporting including analysis of complex tax rules, evaluating decisions, and pursue performance objectives.

Introduction

GlobalFoundries is expanding its Tax Operations function and is seeking an experienced Tax Operations Manager to join the U.S. Tax Compliance & Reporting team. This role will be instrumental in managing a Tax Operations Center of Excellence (COE) focused on standardizing, scaling, and optimizing global tax processes. The position plays a critical role in U.S. federal and multistate tax compliance, transfer pricing support, and tax accounting functions (ASC 740). The ideal candidate will partner with cross-functional teams and leadership to drive operational excellence, ensure compliance, and support global tax initiatives.

Your Job

  • Collaborate with accounting and tax teams to gather and analyze data required for ASC 740 tax provisions and U.S. tax compliance and reporting.
  • Coordinate with external tax consultants, providing required data and monitoring progress of deliverables.
  • Review federal and state tax returns, workpapers, estimated payments, extensions, and related filings prepared by internal teams and external advisors.
  • Manage U.S. tax compliance activities including coordination of tax payments and maintaining documentation as custodian for tax-related records.
  • Act as a liaison between finance and tax teams to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance.
  • Support transfer pricing initiatives and contribute to global tax planning, including restructurings, M&A transactions, and withholding tax analysis.
  • Conduct research on evolving federal and state tax legislation and assess impact on compliance and reporting obligations.
  • Partner with specialized tax project teams (internal and external) to track progress, review outcomes, and assess compliance impacts.
  • Drive process improvements through standardization, automation, and digital transformation within the tax function.
  • Lead prioritization of multiple projects and effectively communicate outcomes to leadership stakeholders.
  • Mentor, train, and develop junior tax professionals, fostering a high-performance team environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (MBA is acceptable).
  • Certification: Enrolled Agent (EA).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in tax compliance and reporting (no ranges specified as per template guidance).
  • Strong experience in U.S. Federal Tax Compliance is required.
  • Experience in tax accounting (ASC 740) and/or U.S. multistate tax compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Proven experience working in cross-functional and geographically diverse teams.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Ability to work in shift hours aligned to U.S. time zones (approximately 3 PM to midnight IST).

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree in Accounting, Taxation, or Finance.
  • Big Four public accounting experience.
  • Experience with tax compliance tools such as OneSource or similar software.
  • Exposure to global tax operations, transfer pricing, and tax technology initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success in automation, process improvement, and digital transformation within tax functions.
