Job Description

Support the Sr. trade compliance manager to manage, facilitate and moni-tor the overall governance of the trade compliance program for Zeiss Greater China Region with a focus on Customs laws & regulation. Assumes the governance function Zeiss TC Customs program in China; advises ZEISS GC business on all matters relating to Customs Compliance

Main Tasks

• Define/update regional export control/customs policies; establish approval/review frame-works; exercise decision-making authority on regulatory matters (e.g., sanctions, tariff val-uation).
Identify/evaluate risks; activate "stop function" for dubious transactions; lead audits (inter-nal/external), regulatory inspections, and corrective actions; monitor certifications (AEO, C-TPAT, ICP).
• Advise GC sites on complex cases, customs procedures and audit responses
• Serve as primary contact for Customs authorities; collaborate cross-functionally (Supply Chain, Business Units) to on customs compliance issues
• Set service provider standards (selection, control); approve local SOPs; decide on IT systems (including ML/AI tools); archive critical docs (license apps, audit records)
• Deliver training, legal updates, and advisory support to employees on customs develop-ments.

Requirements

Education

Degree in law/economics/trade/business administration or equivalent fields or respective professional education combined with working experience

Experience

• 8+ years in global/regional export control & customs governance (policy design, audit response, AEO maintenance)

• familiarity with China/Asia/EU/US Customs trade regulations

• Proven track record in multi-jurisdictional authority liaison and service provider management

• Customs related experience in areas of HTS, COO, FTZ, FTA, AEO, CTPAT ect.

• Extenstive knowledge of IT systems such as SAP/CRM and/or Customs Systems

• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and in multi-cultural teams

• Experience in auditing and investigation is a plus

• Strong drive with self-moivated, structured, accurate and result oriented working style

• Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills in both English and Chinese (writ-ten and well oral)

• Statistics and process excellence skills

• Able to cope with a multicultural, dynamic and changing and complex environment.

• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex business issues into simple problem statements, clear process and actions
