A Day in the Life:

The Senior Technician will collaborate closely with managers and cross-functional teams and NY partners to oversee development fitting trials, conduct model size fitting reviews and till approvals. This position is critical in ensuring that product standards—encompassing aesthetics, functionality, and comfort—aligned with brand expectations. The primary responsibilities include validating fit, resolving construction and technical issues for model sizes, and facilitating a seamless transfer of technical packages to the commercialization team for smoothy commercialization process.

RESPONSIBLILITY

  • Work in partnership with the Technical Manager and Product Development Manager to address technical challenges in new development, including pattern adjustments, lasts, fitting, and sole bottoms. Assist in conducting root-cause analyses and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Participate with the materials team in reviewing materials and conducting material risk assessments during the development stage. This ensures that product engineering meets safety and quality standards required for production.
  • Conduct technical package reviews and clarifications with vendors, New York partners, and the Asia TB team to ensure clear interpretation. Work closely with vendors to maintain company fitting standards and aesthetic expectations through hands-on inspections and detailed guidance.
  • Coordinate and lead fit review sessions with factories and team members. Document all fit findings, note deviations and required actions, and escalate unresolved issues to the Manager when appropriate.
  • Provide technical input to cross-functional teams regarding product quality, sample execution, and fit-related issues, supporting timely and effective decision-making.
  • Collaborate with DGO Product Development and New York teams to address pattern corrections and resolve construction issues.
  • Prioritize and execute daily technical tasks, which include tracking issues and managing action items to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Assist the manager in overseeing finished product grading and commercialization for China-based productions, as well as tooling grading when required. Verify grading prescriptions against established standards and production capabilities.
  • Prepare and provide accurate, clear, and comprehensive quality standards and handover packages to vendors and the commercialization team for product commercialization.
  • Deliver regular updates to managers and key partners, especially in cases where sample schedules or technical challenges could impact quality, delivery timelines, or costing.

EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in product development or pre-production, specifically in ladies’ footwear.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in line correction, sample size fitting, and full-size grading for ladies’ footwear.
  • Strong knowledge of last making, bottom tooling, pattern engineering, and bottom components.
  • Solid understanding of, and ability to assess, risks related to raw materials, trims, and components.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English, with the ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Confident in working and communicating effectively with overseas partners.
