Job Description

Senior Electro-Mechanical Technician (Part time Contract)

Twist is building several automated fluid handling stations. We are looking for a contract senior technician to assist us in the build-up and testing of these stations.

This is a 6 months contract with an average of 10 hours per week with a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform component testing as needed based on component documentation
  2. Perform mechanical sub-system and system assembly as needed, based on SolidWorks assembly drawings and BOM’s.
  3. Perform system wiring as needed. This includes wiring & cable termination, routing, securing, and electrical checks (continuity, voltage measurements with a DMM or oscilloscope).
  4. Perform mechanical alignment of components as needed
  5. Support sub-system and System testing.
  6. Provide redlines to existing assembly drawings and electrical schematics as needed
  7. Provide system wiring diagrams as needed

This is a 6 months contract with an average of 10 hours per week with a flexible schedule

Required Skills:

  1. 10 years of experience as an electro-mechanical technician or a 2-year degree in mechanical or electrical/electronics design with 8 years of experience, or a 4-year degree in mechanical or electrical/electronics design with 4 years of experience
  2. Good experience navigating part and assembly drawings in SolidWorks or eDrawings
  3. Able to read electrical schematics & create wiring diagrams
  4. Proven ability to correctly interpret device electrical functions, as well as power & control signals required
  5. Proven ability to use soldering irons, crimping tools and general cable termination and strain-relief procedures
  6. Proven ability to build custom wiring harnesses and install them on custom prototype instrumentation, with input from other engineers.
  7. In-depth knowledge and use of hand tools, cordless tools, and measurement tools (calipers)
  8. Proven ability using assembly drawings and a Bill of Materials to determine which components are used in which locations, determining their orientation, and assembling them as shown
  9. Good eye-hand coordination working with small parts
  10. Comfortable using MS Office tools (Word, Excel)
  11. Excellent communication and writing skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  12. Detail oriented

Additional Bonus Skills:

  1. 2 or 4-year degree in mechanical or electrical/electronics design
  2. Proven ability to use SolidWorks to create mechanical designs
  3. In-depth knowledge and use of machine shop tools (band saws, Mill, drill press, sanders)
  4. Experience performing electrical and electronics troubleshooting
  5. Experience with Altium, Lucid or other software tools that can be used to create wiring diagrams

The base cash compensation for this California-based role is below. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for bonus, equity, and a generous benefits package. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above. Compensation may be different in other locations.San Francisco Bay Area Pay Range $58,408$77,688 USD
