Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Technical Program Manager, Hardware & Manufacturing based in Canada.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will lead complex programs spanning hardware, software, manufacturing, testing, and deployment for advanced autonomous systems. You’ll coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and operations teams to turn technical plans into reliable, production-ready products. The role combines strategic program ownership with deep technical understanding, enabling you to identify dependencies, remove roadblocks, and improve development processes. You’ll help drive robot upgrades, new product initiatives, and feature development from planning through execution. Success requires strong cross-functional leadership, clear communication, and the ability to translate complex technical challenges into actionable plans. This is an opportunity to contribute to innovative robotics systems designed to operate safely and effectively in real-world environments.

Accountabilities

  • Define program scope, schedules, milestones, resource requirements, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies for complex hardware and software initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional programs involving mechanical, electrical, embedded, systems, software, manufacturing, product, and operations teams.
  • Coordinate robot feature development, continuous upgrade programs, new product development, manufacturing test activities, and deployment initiatives.
  • Gather requirements, align priorities, establish delivery plans, and maintain clear communication across technical and business stakeholders.
  • Identify technical and operational roadblocks early, drive resolution, and manage risks and dependencies throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Develop and improve processes that streamline engineering workflows, product development, manufacturing, and cross-functional handoffs.
  • Help teams establish and execute effective sprint processes to prioritize work, track progress, and maintain delivery momentum.
  • Evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, scalability, and execution.
  • Coordinate broad stakeholder communications and provide concise, structured updates on program health, milestones, risks, and priorities.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical specifications, project plans, roadmaps, schedules, status reports, and other program documentation.
  • Facilitate collaboration between engineering and operational teams to ensure smooth transitions from development through manufacturing and deployment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that advance robot upgrades, product development processes, and new feature delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders, engineers, product teams, and operational stakeholders to maintain alignment and accountability.
  • Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
    • 3–5 years of experience in engineering program management or technical program management.
    • 3–5 years of experience working with hardware, systems, autonomous systems, or comparable product development processes.
    • Demonstrated success managing complex, cross-functional technical programs and delivering product features into production environments.
    • Strong understanding of hardware and software development lifecycles, with the ability to understand technical dependencies and translate them into executable program plans.
    • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams across engineering, product, manufacturing, operations, and business functions.
    • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Proven ability to establish effective working relationships with senior leaders and engineering teams across multiple functions.
    • Strong organizational and project-management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, timelines, dependencies, and risks.
    • Ability to maintain a strategic view of complex programs while providing clear, concise, and appropriately tailored communication to different audiences.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying process improvements and resolving execution challenges.
    • Experience working in fast-paced, collaborative environments where priorities and requirements may evolve.
    • A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline is an advantage.
    • Experience with robotics and autonomous systems, particularly technologies operating in public environments, is highly valued.
    • Experience working on products subject to regulatory, policy, safety, or compliance requirements is a strong advantage.
    • Benefits

      • Remote position available in Canada, including British Columbia, Montreal, and Toronto.
      • Full-time opportunity focused on advanced robotics, autonomous systems, hardware, software, and manufacturing.
      • Base salary range of $150,000 – $187,000, with the final level and compensation determined by experience, domain expertise, geographic location, and interview performance.
      • Equity opportunities.
      • Opportunity to work on complex real-world products combining robotics, machine learning, computer vision, hardware, and software.
      • Cross-functional environment involving experienced engineering, product, operations, and design professionals.
      • Opportunity to influence product development processes, manufacturing workflows, robot upgrades, and new feature delivery.
      • Collaborative and agile work environment focused on solving complex technical challenges.
      • Opportunity to contribute to the development and scaling of autonomous systems designed for real-world urban environments.
