Summary

The Sr. Systems Engineer is responsible for designing and developing products and systems that meet customer requirements. This role provides technical leadership throughout the development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into actionable technical specifications. Key responsibilities include overseeing product design and implementation, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, anticipating and mitigating technical risks, and performing verification and validation testing. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and the ability to communicate effectively while fostering collaboration across teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensuring robust design and optimization of all technical aspects of standard and customized products.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to clarify requirements and schedules
  • Work in collaboration with team to architect solutions, develop algorithms, and demonstrate working solutions in embedded systems and PC applications. Refine and optimize solutions documenting design constraints, risks, schedule and cost.
  • Organizing and reporting status and action plans to team and management.
  • Ensuring design process and documentation requirements are met
  • Contributing to continuous process improvement initiatives and driving best practices where needed.
  • Supporting the ongoing development of technology / product roadmaps and the execution of those strategies as needed.
  • Mentor others in developing best practices and emerging embedded systems technologies. Assist in recruiting new talent. Collaborate with external partners and universities as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelors of Science or Engineering degree
  • Demonstrated experience in the creation and delivery of products at the system-level including embedded systems.
  • Experience with imaging, vision systems or RFID products strongly desired.
  • Exposure to SW and HW development best practices and continuous performance improvement efforts.
  • Hands-on, technical problem-solving mind-set with both HW and SW
  • Strong individual and group problem-solving skills.
  • Cross-organizational communication and leadership
  • Ability to take requirements to test planning to test results
  • Detail-oriented with ability to summarize and communicate effectively internally and with customers.
  • Ability to use an oscilloscope and other standard electronics lab equipment.
  • Ability to understand / define testing approaches.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, global team environment.

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel, approximately 10-20%

Physical Requirements

  • Mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
  • Ability to use vison to read computer screen and read printed materials.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The base pay for this position ranges from $107,200 to 163,300 per year depending on the geographic region.
  • Dependent on the position offered, annual bonuses and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of the compensation package.
