Senior Systems Engineer
Location: Ft. Belvoir, VA
Clearance Required: Active Top Secret/SCI
Leidos is seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support the development, integration, and advancement of cutting‑edge ISR technologies within the Army TENCAP portfolio. This role serves as the lead technical authority on the contractor team, providing the critical engineering expertise required to evaluate emerging capabilities, guide system integration, and ensure alignment with government mission objectives.
The Senior Systems Engineer will support systems architecture development, requirements analysis, and integration of national, commercial, and tactical intelligence capabilities into operational Army systems. This position also involves technical assessments of emerging technologies, prototype development and testing, and engineering support across multiple intelligence platforms. You will contribute to the creation of technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and engineering reports that directly support the TENCAP mission.
As the program’s senior technical expert, you will deliver expert recommendations, conduct trade‑off analyses, and ensure engineering solutions are feasible, mission‑aligned, and technically sound.
What You’ll Be Doing
Serve as the Senior Systems Engineer and definitive technical authority for all engineering aspects of the system.
Maintain and drive system architecture, technical baselines, and overall system performance.
Lead and manage a multi‑disciplinary engineering team, overseeing technical execution and program performance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders to ensure mission needs and objectives are fully addressed.
Support system‑level requirements development, hardware/software design activities, and verification and validation processes.
Act as a key stakeholder in major engineering reviews, readiness reviews, and configuration control boards.
Conduct technical evaluations of emerging ISR technologies and support prototype development and integration efforts.
Develop engineering documentation, architecture artifacts, and technical reports supporting TENCAP objectives.
What You’ll Need
Active Top Secret/SCI clearance
Master’s degree in a science or engineering discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience
OR 8 years of additional work experience in lieu of a Master’s
OR Bachelor’s degree plus 4+ years of experience in lieu of a Master’s
Extensive experience supporting GRIDS and associated or supporting systems
Demonstrated ability to serve as a senior technical authority, systems engineering leader, and trusted advisor in complex mission environments
Experience with ISR systems, satellite communications, or intelligence architectures (highly desirable)
Familiarity with systems engineering lifecycle processes and Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (preferred)

Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00
