JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organization’s IT infrastructure. This role ensures the reliability, security, and performance of systems that support daily operations and long-term strategic initiatives. The position requires advanced technical expertise in server and network management, cloud services, and enterprise systems, as well as a strong understanding of IT security and compliance requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (includes other duties as required):
Infrastructure Management :
- Administer and maintain Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud services (Azure/AWS).
- Design, configure, and maintain servers, storage systems, and network infrastructure (on-premises and cloud-based).
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services across multiple sites.
- Apply security best practices, including patch management, access controls, and vulnerability remediation.
- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability of IT services.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and patching cycles with minimal disruption to business operations.
Operational Support:
- Provide Tier 3 support for escalated technical issues and mentor junior IT staff.
- Implement and manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
- Maintain documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Maintain and support enterprise collaboration tools such as Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, and Exchange.
- Coordinate and execute system maintenance tasks, including patch management, firmware updates, and scheduled downtime.
- Collaborate with application support teams to ensure infrastructure compatibility and performance for business-critical applications.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Identify, assess, and mitigate technology risks, including cybersecurity threats, data breaches, and regulatory compliance issues.
- Ensure that the organization's technology infrastructure and operations comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Ensure infrastructure security through regular audits, vulnerability assessments, and compliance with best practices and regulatory standards.
- Apply security best practices, including patch management, access controls, and vulnerability remediation.
Collaboration & Interdepartmental Support:
- Work closely with operations, engineering, and warehouse teams to support production line technology and industrial control systems.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to support business applications and IT services.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and system upgrades.
- Provide Tier 3 support and mentorship to junior administrators and help desk staff.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration, preferably in a mid-to-large scale IT environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and hybrid infrastructure.
- Experience with ERP/WMS platforms (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle).
- Familiarity with industrial IT environments and OT/IT convergence.
- Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Bash) and automation tools.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, VMware, CompTIA, Cisco) preferred.
