Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
• Oversee and manage supplier quality performance, conduct supplier audits, and ensure supplier compliance with quality standards.
• Collaborate with suppliers to identify and rectify quality issues. Use problem-solving techniques, Six Sigma tools, statistical analysis, and other methodologies to improve supplier quality.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance quality, reduce cost, and improve supply chain efficiency.
• Supplier Development: Develop and maintain partnerships with suppliers. Train suppliers on quality requirements and monitor their performance.
• Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to define process parameters, and ensure that supplier processes meet quality requirements.
• Ensure proper documentation of supplier quality data, audits, non-conformances, corrective actions, and quality tests.
• Ensure suppliers comply with relevant regulations and standards in their products and processes.
• Manage projects related to supplier quality, such as new supplier qualifications, process changes, and corrective action implementation.
• Ensure product integrity by the execution of the product quality architecture strategy (APQP and IATF Core tools)
• Perform Quality Systems, Process and Product Audits, using applicable Quality Standards and specifications– to ensure that processes comply with Corning Quality Requirements.
• Collaborate with the various Corning Supplier Quality teams
• Provide periodic progress updates on execution of the roadmap
• Bachelor of science in engineering
• 5-7 years of experience in quality assurance, quality engineering, or a related field
• 2 plus years of experience in supplier quality management and supplier development
• Strong knowledge of quality systems and standards.
• Proficient in quality-related tools and methodologies, such as Six Sigma, statistical analysis, etc.
• Excellent problem-solving and project management skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Certified DMAIC Black Belt
• Knowledge of ERP/QMS platforms (SAP, ETQ, SharePoint, Windchill)
• Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
• TL9000/ISO9001 Auditor experience
