Job Description

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ JOB DUTIES

The Senior Structures Integration Engineer is responsible for supporting airworthiness, structural integration, and limited T2 engineering activities across multiple airborne platforms including rotary-wing, fixed-wing, ISR, and specialized mission aircraft. This position provides independent technical assessment, peer review, limited integration-level engineering support, and airworthiness risk evaluation for aircraft structural modifications, sustainment actions, external stores integration, instrumentation installations, and contractor-developed engineering packages. The position is intended for highly experienced senior engineering personnel capable of performing advanced technical review, mentoring junior engineers, teaching structural integration concepts, and providing technical leadership within complex airworthiness and aircraft modification environments.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Perform effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplined engineering team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Provide technical review and integration support for aircraft structural modifications across multiple aircraft platforms.
  • Support T2 engineering activities including antenna relocation, sensor integration, internal/external stores mounting, structural reinforcement concepts, airborne subsystem modifications, Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP/ACIP) considerations, and sustainment-driven structural modifications.
  • Conduct and review contractor-developed structural analyses, stress reports, interface definitions, loads assessments, installation concepts, and technical data packages for airworthiness impacts and technical adequacy.
  • Conduct engineering analysis associated with aircraft structural integration, mounting concepts, fatigue considerations, and interface compatibility.
  • Develop or modify CAD drawings, installation concepts, bracket/interface layouts, and integration documentation in support of airborne modifications.
  • Support airworthiness assessments, technical review boards, flight release discussions, and systems safety activities.
  • Coordinate integration impacts across electrical/avionics, systems safety, propulsion, flight controls, configuration management, and sustainment engineering disciplines.
  • Support technical trade studies, structural integration recommendations, and engineering change documentation.
  • Prepare technical assessment memorandums, structural risk summaries, engineering recommendations, and customer briefings.
  • Serve as a technical interface with Government Chief Engineers, Technical Authorities (TA), platform contractors, and customer representatives.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of configuration baselines and technical package traceability.
  • Support flight test readiness reviews and aircraft modification planning activities as required.
  • Provide engineering judgment and technical leadership for integration-level structural activities while operating within defined airworthiness and contractual boundaries.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering, or a related technical discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred but not required. A combination of formal education, advanced technical training, and equivalent experience may be considered.

  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant engineering experience with aircraft structures, airborne integration activities, airworthiness support, or military aircraft modification programs.
  • Experience supporting military or Government aircraft integration programs involving structural modifications, external stores, instrumentation installations, antennas, mission systems, or airborne subsystem modifications.
  • Experience supporting Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP/ACIP) activities, structural sustainment programs, or airframe life extension efforts.
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA), loads/stress analysis methodologies, fatigue analysis concepts, and structural substantiation practices.
  • Experience reviewing or supporting finite element models, stress reports, damage tolerance assessments, or structural substantiation packages is preferred.
  • Experience with aircraft modification structural substantiation and airworthiness-driven structural assessments is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of aircraft structural repair concepts, sustainment engineering, and structural risk evaluation methodologies is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, stress reports, interface definitions, loads assessments, and technical data packages.
  • Experience with structural design activities, CAD drawing development/modification, installation package support, or structural integration engineering.
  • Experience participating in technical reviews, airworthiness reviews, systems engineering activities, or flight test support environments.
  • Knowledge of configuration management principles and engineering change processes.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1530, MIL-HDBK-516, MIL-STD-882, and related airworthiness or structural integrity guidance is highly desired.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to review contractor-developed analyses and identify technical, integration, and airworthiness risks.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to engineers, program managers, Government customers, and leadership.
  • Experience using engineering drawing or CAD tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, NX, or equivalent tools is highly desirable.
  • An active Secret or Top-Secret security clearance is highly desirable.
