Job Description

As a Sr Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives for Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) in India and EMEA or Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) categories supporting Honeywell manufacturing operations in India and partially APAC.

You will partner with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Integrated Supply Chain, Finance, and Project Management teams to deliver productivity, improve supplier performance, mitigate commercial and supply risks, and support the successful execution of capital investment and operational reliability initiatives.

You will apply your manufacturing and strategic sourcing experience to manage complex supplier engagements, lead competitive sourcing events, negotiate commercial agreements, and implement category strategies that deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for CAPEX / MRO categories supporting manufacturing operations
  • Support the execution of capital investment projects in India and EMEA region, including manufacturing expansion, capacity growth, automation, modernization, and equipment replacement initiatives
  • Lead sourcing activities related to manufacturing expansion projects in Pune and Hyderabad
  • Manage end-to-end sourcing activities, including requirements review, market analysis, supplier identification, RFx execution, bid evaluation, negotiation, supplier recommendation, contracting, and implementation
  • Lead sourcing activities for capital equipment, production machinery, automation systems, manufacturing technologies, installation services, commissioning support, and related technical services
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for MRO categories, including industrial spare parts, repair and maintenance services, OEM components, industrial consumables, technical services, tools, and reliability-related requirements
  • Partner with Engineering and Project Management teams to align sourcing plans with technical specifications, project schedules, budgets, and implementation requirements
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to support equipment availability, operational continuity, and manufacturing reliability
  • Drive productivity through competitive bidding, supplier negotiations, demand management, value engineering, specification optimization, supplier consolidation, and total cost of ownership analysis
  • Conduct supply market analysis and supplier benchmarking to support sourcing decisions
  • Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, service, responsiveness, and compliance
  • Lead supplier performance reviews and establish corrective action and continuous improvement plans as needed
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, capacity, financial health, commercial position, and supply continuity risks
  • Develop and execute mitigation plans for supplier, contractual, commercial, and project-execution risks
  • Lead commercial negotiations involving pricing, payment terms, productivity commitments, warranties, service levels, liability, and other contractual requirements
  • Ensure compliance with Honeywell sourcing policies, ethical requirements, approval processes, and contract governance standards
  • Support contract development, execution, administration, supplier compliance, and resolution of commercial issues
  • Maintain and support accurate sourcing plans, project updates, savings forecasts, supplier information, risk documentation, supporting records, annual productivity, working capital, cost optimization, and supply continuity objectives
  • Influence cross-functional stakeholders and gain alignment on sourcing recommendations, supplier selection, and commercial decisions
  • Promote standard sourcing processes, disciplined execution, and continuous improvement across the India CAPEX and MRO portfolio

CAPEX strategy includes categories such as processing machinery, test & analytical, automation and process controls, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning), material handling, packaging and other industrial equipment, supplies & services Meanwhile, MRO strategy includes categories such as OEM spare parts, pumps, pipes, valves and fittings, motors, bearings, power transmission, pneumatics, hydraulics, hardware, fasteners, industrial gases, chemicals, lubricants, cutting tools, hand and power tools, electrical supplies, and other industrial materials.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, or a related discipline
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Supply Chain, Category Management, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience working in or directly supporting a manufacturing environment
  • Experience developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives for CAPEX and/or MRO categories
  • Experience sourcing capital equipment, production machinery, industrial equipment, maintenance services, spare parts, technical services, and/or industrial consumables
  • Experience leading competitive sourcing events, including RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, bid evaluations, supplier selection, and commercial negotiations
  • Experience negotiating supplier contracts, commercial terms, payment terms, warranties, and service-level requirements
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and driving supplier performance improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable cost reduction, productivity, working capital, or total cost improvements
  • Strong analytical, financial, negotiation, and commercial decision-making skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Finance, Integrated Supply Chain, and Project Management stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English within a global business environment

WE VALUE

  • Engineering background combined with strategic sourcing or procurement experience
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and industrial supply markets and possessing strong project management and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of MRO sourcing, industrial spare parts, maintenance services, OEM requirements, industrial supplies, and reliability-related procurement
  • Experience supporting greenfield, brownfield, manufacturing expansion, automation, modernization, capacity growth, or equipment replacement projects
  • Experience managing sourcing activities from specification development through supplier selection, contracting, delivery, installation, commissioning support, and project closeout
  • Experience applying total cost of ownership, should-cost analysis, cost modeling, value engineering, and cost-benefit analysis
  • Experience using supplier scorecards, business reviews, corrective actions, and continuous improvement plans
  • Knowledge of contract governance, commercial risk management, supplier compliance, and sourcing controls
  • Ability to manage multiple sourcing projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills, as well as influence stakeholders and drive alignment without direct authority
  • Experience working across global and regional teams in a matrixed organization
  • Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or Operational Excellence experience mind set
  • Knowledge of eSourcing, spend analytics, contract management, and procurement systems.
