Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Staff Quality Assurance Engineer with a strong background in Power Systems and Energy Management Solutions to lead quality engineering efforts for our Transmission Heritage Product portfolio.

The role is responsible for defining and executing the quality strategy, test planning, validation, and release readiness across complex enterprise-grade transmission applications. The role requires hands-on leadership in product validation, solution testing, defect triage, root cause analysis, and customer issue resolution. Knowledge of test automation frameworks, particularly Playwright, is a strong advantage. This individual will work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Services, and Customer Support teams to ensure high-quality customer deployments and operational excellence.

Experience with transmission industry products and utility workflows is highly desirable. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise, system-level thinking, customer focus, and a passion for building a culture of quality.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Define and own the end-to-end quality strategy, test plans, validation approach, and release readiness criteria for Transmission Heritage Products.
  • Lead system, integration, regression, performance, and customer workflow testing across complex power transmission software solutions.
  • Drive defect prevention and reduction initiatives through robust quality processes, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Product Management, Services, and Customer Support teams to ensure successful product deliveries and customer deployments.
  • Lead defect triage activities, prioritize quality risks, track quality metrics, and provide clear recommendations to leadership teams.
  • Champion test automation adoption and expansion, including automation framework strategy and implementation using modern tools such as Playwright where applicable.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of electric power systems, transmission operations, EMS, SCADA, WAMS, network applications, or related utility software domains.
  • Proven experience in quality assurance, validation, and solution testing for large-scale enterprise software products.
  • Experience creating comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, and quality metrics.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate complex defects across distributed systems and integrated solutions.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments with cross-functional global teams.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation concepts and frameworks; knowledge of Playwright, API testing, and CI/CD-integrated test automation is highly desirable.

Desired Characteristics

  • Customer-focused mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for product quality and customer success.
  • Ability to influence across organizations and drive quality initiatives without direct authority.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring engineers and fostering a quality-first engineering culture.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of effectively interacting with technical teams, product leaders, and customers.
  • Data-driven decision maker who leverages metrics and insights to improve product quality, productivity, and release outcomes.
  • Continuous learner with a passion for innovation, process improvement, automation, and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with 12+ years of experience.
  • Prior experience with GE Vernova or other utility Transmission Management System (TMS), EMS, WAMS, SCADA, or network application products.
  • Familiarity with transmission heritage products, utility operations, and grid reliability workflows.
  • Experience supporting customer deployments, site acceptance testing (SAT), factory acceptance testing (FAT), and production issue management.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, microservices architectures, and modern software quality engineering practices.
  • Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated quality gates.
