Job Description

What if the work you did every day could impact the lives of people you know? Or all of humanity? At Illumina, we are expanding access to genomic technology to realize health equity for billions of people around the world. Our efforts enable life-changing discoveries that are transforming human health through the early detection and diagnosis of diseases and new treatment options for patients.Working at Illumina means being part of something bigger than yourself. Every person, in every role, has the opportunity to make a difference. Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.

Illumina's BioInsight organization develops and commercializes the world's leading genomics analysis software — from DRAGEN and Emedgene to cloud platforms like ICA and BaseSpace — serving thousands of clinical, research, and pharmaceutical customers worldwide. The BioInsight leadership team operates at high velocity across a complex portfolio, and the demand for executive-quality content — presentations, strategic narratives, competitive briefings, investor materials, and internal communications — consistently outpaces the capacity of our product marketing team.

As Sr Staff Executive Marketing Manager, you are the dedicated content engine for BioInsight's executive leadership. You take ambiguous ideas, incomplete briefs, and verbal direction from SVP/VP-level stakeholders and turn them into polished, compelling deliverables — fast. This role exists to restore the product marketing team's capacity for structured go-to-market work by absorbing the reactive, high-priority executive content workload that currently fragments their time.

Responsibilities

  • Own a shared priority queue of executive content requests from BioInsight's SVP, VPs, and senior directors, and deliver against competing deadlines with clear prioritization

  • Create executive-quality presentations from scratch for ELT reviews, board updates, investor meetings, customer executive briefings, town halls, quarterly business reviews, and all-hands meetings

  • Transform rough outlines, bullet points, data sets, or verbal direction into polished slide decks with clear narratives, accurate data visualizations, and consistent on-brand formatting

  • Draft executive communications including internal announcements, organizational updates, strategic memos, talking points, and cross-functional review materials

  • Prepare competitive intelligence summaries and market landscape briefings for leadership consumption, synthesizing inputs from product management, sales, and market research

  • Build and maintain a reusable library of modular executive slides — market sizing, competitive landscape, product portfolio overviews, organizational summaries — that can be assembled quickly for any context

  • Originate written and visual concepts that seed downstream product marketing programs; coordinate closely with SW Product Marketing to ensure consistency between executive materials and scaled content

  • Enforce visual consistency across all executive materials — Illumina brand guidelines, presentation templates, data visualization standards — and manage outside design firms for high-stakes assets

  • Support quarterly business review preparation by synthesizing data from product, sales, and finance into executive-ready narratives

  • Manage stakeholder expectations around scope, timeline, and prerequisites — proactively identifying when a request requires content gathering, cross-functional input, or consensus building before production can begin

Listed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. Changes to individual responsibilities may occur due to business needs.

Experience / Education

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field; advanced degree a plus
  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Typically 8–12+ years in a marketing, communications, or executive content role with heavy presentation and strategic content production responsibility
  • Expert-level PowerPoint and presentation design skills — ability to create visually compelling, executive-quality decks from scratch, not just populate templates
  • Strong written communication — ability to distill complex technical and business concepts into clear, concise narratives for C-suite and board-level audiences
  • Experience supporting VP+ level executives in a technology, life sciences, or enterprise software company
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous requests with competing deadlines across stakeholders
  • Comfort with ambiguity — frequently working from incomplete briefs, verbal direction, or early-stage strategic thinking that requires clarification and iteration
  • Proficiency with AI-powered content tools (Gamma, Copilot, Midjourney, or similar) to accelerate production velocity
  • Data visualization skills — ability to create clear, accurate charts, graphs, and infographics from raw data
  • Experience in life sciences, genomics, or health tech is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools for light design work is a plus
