Job Description

The Sustainable Sourcing Senior Specialist plays a critical role in embedding sustainability into procurement practices and enabling measurable environmental impact across the supply chain.

This role supports the execution of Supply Chain Sustainability strategy by translating enterprise sustainable sourcing objectives into structured processes, data driven insights, and actionable outcomes. The Sr. Specialist will focus on supplier sustainability performance, Scope 3 emissions enablement, and integration of environmental considerations into sourcing decisions. This role contributes to advancing a sustainable sourcing ecosystem aligned with leading industry frameworks, including the Science Based Targets initiative, CDP, and emerging supplier sustainability evaluation methodologies. It is ideal for a professional who is analytical, detail oriented, and motivated to drive environmental progress through operational excellence.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain, organize, and enhance datasets related to supplier sustainability performance, procurement categories, waste streams, and circularity initiatives, enabling transparency and traceability across the supply base.
  • Support the development and tracking of sustainability metrics aligned with enterprise environmental goals, including Scope 3 emissions and resource efficiency targets.
  • Identify data gaps and implement structured data governance practices to improve quality, consistency, and usability across sourcing and sustainability systems.
  • Support evaluation of supplier sustainability performance, including alignment with science based emissions reduction pathways consistent with Science Based Targets initiative
  • Assist in supplier engagement efforts to promote environmental transparency, disclosure, and performance improvements.
  • Contribute to supplier segmentation strategies based on sustainability impact, spend, and risk to prioritize engagement and drive measurable outcomes.
  • Support initiatives that enhance supplier participation in sustainability assessments, disclosures, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Support the integration of sustainability criteria into sourcing workflows, supplier evaluations, and procurement decision making processes, advancing sustainable procurement practices.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Planning, Environmental Health & Safety, and other stakeholders to align sustainability objectives with sourcing execution.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations (e.g., Power BI) to track supplier sustainability performance, emissions trends, circularity outcomes, and metrics; analyze data to identify risks and opportunities and support internal and external disclosures aligned with regulatory or voluntary frameworks.
  • Support pilot programs and sustainability innovation initiatives that advance sustainable sourcing practices and environmental performance. Contribute to benchmarking efforts to assess program maturity against peer utilities and industry leaders, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct research on sustainability trends, regulatory developments, and emerging best practices; maintain awareness of supplier sustainability evaluation tools; ensure alignment with environmental regulations and internal policies through strong documentation, standard operating procedures, and records.

Required Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree in Supply Chain, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field, and minimum 2 years of related work experience or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field, and minimum 3 years of related work experience or
  • High School Diploma/GED in Supply Chain, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field, and minimum 5 years of related work experience

Relevant Work Experience

  • 2 years relevant experience in sustainability, supply chain, analytics, or related discipline, required. Preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle, and data management tools, required.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving capabilities, required.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities, required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, required.
  • Experience working with sustainability data, procurement systems, or supplier performance metrics, preferred.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as Science Based Targets initiative and Scope 3 accounting methodologies, preferred.
  • Experience with sustainability disclosures or supplier reporting, preferred.
  • Experience with supplier sustainability assessment tools and experience using AI tools for analysis or process improvement, preferred.

Additional Physical Demands

  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
  • Responsible for travel to various company and supplier locations; some of which may require overnight travel.
  • Available to perform occasional off-hour emergency buyer or storm damage field assignments, some of which may require working extended or non-traditional hours.
  • Support emergency response assignments when required.
