Job Description

The AWS Public Sector team in New Zealand is looking for a Solutions Architect to work with customers in central government, local government, education, and state-owned enterprise. You will partner with government agencies and their technology partners to design, prototype, and implement cloud solutions that support improved services for New Zealanders.

This role focuses on helping our customers accelerate their cloud adoption journeys, from early workload assessments through to production-ready architectures. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor, working hard to understand our customer, and helping to select and design practical cloud solutions using AWS services.

Key job responsibilities
- Design and review architectures for secure, resilient workloads operating in classified and protected environments
- Lead technical engagements including proofs of concept, prototypes, architecture reviews, and Well-Architected assessments
- Advise customers on AWS security services, compliance frameworks (NZISM, NIST), and sovereign cloud patterns
- Drive adoption of modern services including AI/ML, containers, serverless, and data analytics within secure boundaries

This is *not* a hands-on delivery role; it is advisory.

A day in the life
Customer Engagement:

- Build deep, trust-based relationships with technical and business leaders across agencies
- Translate aspirations and operational requirements into cloud-native solutions

Collaboration:
- Work closely with account managers, partner SAs, professional services, and specialist teams to deliver end-to-end customer outcomes
- Engage with AWS partners to support joint solution delivery
- Contribute to the broader SA team through knowledge sharing, peer reviews, and community building
- Provide technical input to opportunity qualification, pricing discussions, and proposal responses

About the team
You will join a supportive team of clever, kind people, who place a high value on curiosity, integrity, and an obsessive focus on improving the lives of our customers and citizens.
