About the Team

The Merchant Selection Team enables SMBs and Enterprises to onboard and be successful on the Uber Eats marketplace. We build systems that power outbound sales, sign up & onboarding flows and guide merchants towards early lifecycle success.

About the Role

In this role as a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for technically leading a team that constructs the essential systems enabling local businesses to integrate with Uber Eats efficiently and realize immediate value. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners in Product, Design, Analytics, Operations, and ML to co-own the engineering strategy along with the EM, and own the architectural strategy. Shepherd the team towards prioritizing both the long-term scalability and reliability of the platform alongside rapid enhancements focused on the merchant experience.

What You’ll do:

  • Work through the entire software engineering lifecycle, including partnering with product teams to define requirements to create new or evolve existing systems, designing, implementing, testing, launching and maintaining world-class high-availability and high-traffic services.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Analytics and GTM teams to build and execute the roadmap, ensuring a stable, scalable platform while maintaining rapid delivery of merchant features.
  • Oversee the prioritization and delivery of capabilities and architectural improvements to maximize user value and business impact.
  • Ensure operational excellence across all areas, including support, on-call, deployments, and incident management.
  • Champion and implement engineering best practices across the team

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience with common web technologies (HTML5, CSS, Javascript, TypeScript), Application Servers, Web Applications
  • Proficiency in Javascript and experience developing UIs with JavaScript development frameworks, e.g. React, Angular, Vue, etc
  • Experience with Node.js, React-Query, GraphQL, or other server-side Javascript technologies and tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to gather requirements and draft detailed design documents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced expertise in modern frontend frameworks and web technologies, specifically React.
  • Familiarity with principles of good user experience and experience with UX design tools, e.g. Figma
  • Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Experience implementing complex projects with multiple dependencies
  • Experience in multiple programming languages, e.g. Go, Java, etc

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $202,000 per year - USD $224,000 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $202,000 per year - USD $224,000 per year.

For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
