Job Description

What to Expect

The goal of Full Self-Driving isn’t just to get it working — it’s to make it more dependable than any human driver who has ever lived. Miles-per-intervention is the main metric that matters, and our primary focus is driving that number as high as possible while Robotaxi scales globally. Every rare bug that reaches the fleet is unacceptable. When issues surface, we analyze why existing tests missed them, invent new detection methods, and ruthlessly stress-test the fixes until the vulnerability is gone. In this role you will build the critical program-analysis tools (fuzzers, compiler instrumentation passes, runtime monitoring components, static analysis) that catch these bugs before they ever leave the lab. You’ll work on a lean team of experienced engineers whose sole mission is improving code health, boosting fault tolerance, and enabling the extensive end-to-end testing that underpins system safety and Robotaxi’s ability to scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Take ownership of the tooling that preemptively finds issues and continuously raises miles-per-intervention
  • Integrate and maintain static analysis and library-hardening tools (sanitizers, clang-tidy, fuzzers) at scale
  • Enhance fault tolerance and design or improve redundancy-aware frameworks inside mature autonomous systems
  • Collaborate across hardware and software teams to understand the architecture and drive permanent improvements in reliability and robustness
  • Integrate hardware simulators into the bug detection process

What You’ll Bring

  • Proficiency with modern C++ (17/20/23)
  • Prior industry or research experience with compilers, program analysis, fuzzing, or static analysis strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Bazel and large-scale build systems a plus
  • Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
