This position supports the HR AI Shed, a cross-functional team of approximately 8–12 members that operates as an AI SDLC execution team through a hybrid U.S.–India delivery model, with an estimated 50/50 distribution across both locations.
The team brings together product leadership, software engineering, frontend and backend development, agent development, data engineering, and platform engineering capabilities.
Its goal is to accelerate HR AI delivery by building reusable, governed solutions—including HR Compass, AI agents, integrations, and orchestration patterns—and to shorten the journey from business discovery to MVP from months to approximately six weeks, delivering measurable value for associates, leaders, and HR teams.
The Senior Software Engineer – Java Backend Developer will design, build, and support secure, scalable backend solutions for the HR AI Shed team. This role combines deep Java and Spring Boot expertise with Python-based AI development to deliver intelligent HR capabilities, including AI agents, tool integrations, workflow orchestration, and data-driven services.
The ideal candidate is an experienced hands-on engineer who can translate complex HR business needs into reliable microservices, APIs, event-driven integrations, and cloud-native platforms. They will partner closely with product, architecture, data, AI, security, and platform engineering teams to deliver production-ready solutions that are maintainable, observable, and secure.
