Job Description

Our client is an early-stage, high-growth startup focused on modernizing critical operational workflows within the healthcare ecosystem. They are building an AI-native platform designed to automate complex, manual processes—significantly improving speed, accuracy, and scalability.

This is a highly impactful role working closely with senior leadership, including the Head of Engineering and executive team. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and product-driven, with a strong emphasis on ownership and execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy scalable, production-grade software solutions in a fast-moving startup environment
• Develop and maintain backend and full-stack systems using modern technologies, with a strong emphasis on TypeScript
• Build and optimize AI-powered workflows, including autonomous agents leveraging retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and orchestration frameworks
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and leadership teams to define and deliver high-impact features
• Take ownership of product outcomes, contributing to both technical design and product direction
• Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on new features and systems to improve platform performance and user experience
• Ensure high code quality, system reliability, and scalability in production environments

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of delivering production-ready applications
• Strong expertise in TypeScript and experience building complex, type-safe systems
• Experience working in fast-paced, in-person or highly collaborative startup environments
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and drive them from concept through delivery
• Familiarity with modern development practices, including version control, testing, and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience leveraging AI development tools (e.g., code assistants, LLM-based tooling) to enhance engineering productivity

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python and modern backend development frameworks
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Temporal, Inngest, or similar)
• Experience designing or implementing RAG-based systems or other AI-driven architectures
• Exposure to healthcare systems, particularly provider data, credentialing, or payer workflows
• Background working in cross-functional roles or contributing beyond core engineering (e.g., product, data, operations)
