Job Description

The Sr Software Developer’s primary role is designing, developing, testing, and deploying end-to-end software applications and automations. This role works closely with the Software Architect and Platform Development Manager to support various programming and scripting languages that are deployed across various environments, both in Azure and a traditional datacenter. The Sr Software Developer acts as an escalation resource that supports maintaining, enhancing, and troubleshooting legacy applications. This role is responsible for mentoring junior resources, maintaining runbooks and knowledge bases, and working on the most complex and scaled applications. Additionally, this position collaborates with the data science team, platform automation team, and other various business units.

The base pay estimate for this role is $73,600-$125,100 annually. The final offer will depend on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate. This range is for base pay only and does not include bonuses or other compensation. This position is eligible for an annual bonus. Bonuses are not guaranteed and are awarded based on company and individual performance.

  • Develops, maintains, and troubleshoots web and mobile applications.
  • Develops, maintains, and troubleshoots automations and scripts across various languages such as Python or PowerShell.
  • Writes clean, maintainable, and well-documented code by following documented frameworks.
  • Assists in enhancing documentation and maintaining knowledge articles.
  • Participates in technology assessments and proof of concept designs.
  • Leads code reviews and enhances technology process frameworks.
  • Debugs and troubleshoots software and script issues. Performs root cause analysis in complex applications.
  • Collaborates with designers, developers, and product managers to implement new features.
  • Tests and deploys applications, scripts, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Stays up to date with emerging trends and technologies. Stays current with industry standards by studying state-of-the-art development tools and programming techniques; participates in educational opportunities; reads professional publications.
  • Protects operations and maintains HIPAA compliance by keeping information confidential and working within specific guidelines.
  • Collaborates respectfully with other team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSAs):

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of study and 7+ years of experience as a software developer.
  • 7+ years of experience performing root cause analysis and other troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Full understanding and 5+ years of experience implementing Well Architected Frameworks.
  • 7+ years of experience with functional, imperative, and object-oriented languages (knowledge of C# and Java is preferred).
  • 4+ years of experience with scripting languages such as Python.
  • 4+ years of experience with Azure based microservices and infrastructure.
  • Experience coding, testing, and documenting complex systems.
  • Ability to use version control software such as GIT.
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, identify tasks, provide estimates, and meet production deadlines.
  • Experience with professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Experience with unit test methodologies.
  • Eagerness and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL Server or Azure SQL.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Azure DevOps as a code repository/task tracking and leveraging automated tests, CI builds, and release pipelines.
  • The ability to work efficiently on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The ability to apply the Azure Well Architected Framework to all designs, troubleshooting, and deployments.
  • The ability to learn quickly across various technologies and programming languages.
  • The ability to work through complex problems in a structured manner.
  • The ability to work in an Agile software development environment and work within a Scrum team.
