Job Description

Symmetrio is recruiting a full-time hybrid Sr. Site Planner for our client, a medical device company specializing in compact proton therapy systems for cancer treatment. The Sr. Site Planner will be responsible for coordinating the design and installation of proton therapy systems for hospitals and cancer treatment centers.

The ideal candidate will work at the intersection of engineering, architecture, construction, and customer collaboration. They will serve as a technical liaison, supporting projects from site planning and feasibility through construction documentation and installation oversight. They will also be responsible for aligning site designs with system requirements, applicable regulations, and installation needs.

This is a full-time remote position offering $125,000–$135,000 annually. The role requires regular travel to company headquarters in Littleton, Massachusetts, as well as customer sites throughout the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site planning and installation activities for proton therapy systems and related product platforms.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for customer architects, engineers, and design teams from initial feasibility through construction documentation.
  • Partner with Sales to evaluate potential sites, assess infrastructure readiness, and support preliminary layout and feasibility studies.
  • Develop and review site layouts, equipment plans, architectural drawings, and technical documentation throughout schematic design, design development, and construction phases.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, shielding, and other engineering teams to integrate system requirements into customer facility designs.
  • Identify design conflicts, site constraints, compliance concerns, and project risks, working cross-functionally to resolve issues before installation.
  • Conduct customer site visits and inspections to evaluate existing conditions, verify design requirements, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with customers, architects, engineers, contractors, Sales, and internal project teams.
  • Develop and maintain site planning guides, drawing standards, installation requirements, templates, and tools that improve technical document and construction reviews.
  • Support the transition from Site Planning to Project Execution and provide technical guidance on site-specific requirements, facility constraints, infrastructure planning, and future product integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in site planning, architectural/engineering coordination, construction design, or technical planning for complex capital equipment or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience coordinating facility systems, including high-voltage electrical, HVAC, structural, and IT infrastructure.
  • Healthcare, radiation oncology, or medical device installation experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing and reviewing construction documentation, with the ability to work with both metric and imperial units.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit, along with knowledge of building codes and construction documentation practices.
  • Ability to translate technical engineering requirements into clear site, architectural, and infrastructure criteria.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across customers, architects, engineers, contractors, Sales, and project teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple site planning projects in a fast-paced environment, with willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
