When you work as a Sr Scientist in the Mass Spec Bioanalysis Development group at KCAS, you get to further our mission by leveraging your knowledge in bioanalytical and scientific principles to be responsible for carrying out all aspects of a study, from study setup through reporting, as well as development. You will also use your strong foundation in scientific principles/theories to assess data integrity and troubleshoot as needed.

Our Mass Spec Bioanalysis Development team uses LC-MS/MS (Liquid Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry) techniques and sophisticated sample preparation methods to meet bioanalytical needs for drug discovery, preclinical, and clinical studies, including the bioanalysis of drugs and metabolites, biomarkers, and active endogenous compounds in biological fluids and tissues.

In this role, we will rely on you to

Design and execute all phases of assigned projects, including sample preparation (extractions, enrichments/affinity capture, digestions), method development and qualification for LC-MS/MS, troubleshooting, data analysis, and report generation

Act as lead scientist, help to design experiments, provide work instructions, and technical training to more junior scientific staff in daily activities

Be responsible for all client communication related to study conduct

Be responsible for timeline adherence and communication of status to management as required

Ensure compliance of study activities with pertinent portion of study protocol, SOPs & any additional requirements

Be able to set up and change instrument configurations for various LC-MS/MS methods

Prepare and present data summaries for client updates

Act as a technical expert for all aspects of process design and problem-solving

Perform all aspects of the job in a way that supports the company brand and supports the company mission, vision, and values

To qualify specifically for this role, you will have

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or chemical/biochemical engineering, or related field with at least 5 years of experience with LC-MS/MS
  • 2-3 years of experience overseeing projects
  • Bioanalytical sample preparation, Quantitative LC-MS/MS, and multi-dimensional chromatography
  • Experience with proteins and peptides as well as small molecule biomarkers is preferred
  • Experience with Reversed Phase and Hilic chromatography at the analytical and micro/nano flow rates or protein digestions and immunoaffinity enrichments (hybrid LCMS) is a plus
