Live

What you will do

Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role, you will serve as the Business Owner for Data Automation within Large Molecule Discovery (LMD), helping define, prioritize, and guide laboratory data automation initiatives across the LMD informatics ecosystem. You will focus on improving data capture, instrument integration, workflow efficiency, and the availability of structured, reusable scientific data across research operations.

As a scientifically grounded partner to laboratory and technology teams, you will work closely with scientists, laboratory operations teams, software engineers, informatics specialists, automation experts, and external partners to translate scientific workflow needs into clear business requirements. You will help ensure laboratory-generated data can move efficiently from instruments and research platforms into enterprise systems while maintaining data quality, traceability, and usability.

This position sits at the intersection of laboratory science, research informatics, and digital transformation. You will bring a strong understanding of scientific workflows and a practical ability to collaborate with technical implementation teams to deliver automation and integration capabilities that improve how data is captured, managed, and used across LMD.

In this role, your core responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the primary scientific business owner for laboratory data automation initiatives within Large Molecule Discovery
  • Gather, document, and prioritize business requirements related to laboratory workflows, instrument integration, scientific data capture, and automation opportunities
  • Translate scientific process needs into clear functional requirements, use cases, workflow requirements, and success criteria for informatics and software development teams
  • Partner with scientists and laboratory teams to map instrument-to-ecosystem data flows, understand current processes, and identify integration gaps
  • Help define data models and workflow requirements that support automated data movement between instruments, research platforms, and enterprise systems
  • Contribute to automation roadmaps that support research operations, scientific data management, and downstream analytics, reporting, and AI/ML-enabled workflows
  • Prioritize automation opportunities based on scientific impact, operational efficiency, implementation feasibility, and long-term maintainability
  • Support deployment, testing, validation, user acceptance, and adoption of automation capabilities within laboratory environments
  • Facilitate communication between scientific users and technical implementation teams to ensure solutions align with real-world scientific workflows and user needs
  • Identify manual processes that can benefit from automation, integration, or improved standardization, and help establish best practices for instrument connectivity and automated data acquisition
  • Support efforts to improve data quality, consistency, completeness, traceability, and structured data availability across laboratory workflows
  • Monitor the effectiveness of implemented solutions and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and scalable reuse across LMD and partner organizations
