As a Senior Scientist, Biochemistry & Clinical Translation, you’ll play a critical role within Research & Development (R&D), leading hypothesis-driven research that translates early stage innovation into meaningful outcomes for pet health, product innovation, and business impact. Come prepared to lead the design and execution of scientific research, contributing to advancing Purina’s scientific leadership and ensure discoveries are effectively translated into scalable solutions that support lifelong pet health.

  • Design and lead hypothesis-driven research including defining clinically relevant endpoints, experimental design, data generation, and analysis to advance pet health innovation
  • Apply deep expertise in biochemistry and related scientific disciplines to translate findings into actionable, evidence-based insights that inform veterinary medicine, product development, and business decisions
  • Contribute to and lead research projects, ensuring effective planning, data integration, and timely communication of results
  • Partner cross-functionally with product development, manufacturing, and commercial teams to apply research in real-world settings
  • Integrate and synthesize complex datasets into clear, scientifically sound conclusions
  • Communicate scientific insights effectively both at scientific forums and to non-technical audiences, consolidating those into patents and scientific publications
  • Collaborate with external academic partners, research networks, and key opinion leaders to advance knowledge and validate findings
  • Mentor and develop junior scientists, contributing to knowledge sharing and scientific capability building

Requirements

  • PhD in Biochemistry, molecular biology, animal science or a related scientific discipline
  • Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)/DVM equivalent or experience in applying science to animal health and nutrition
  • 8+ years of experience in academia, or clinical research with a focus on translational science
  • 5+ years of experience in biochemistry with experience in biomarker research, metabolic pathways, multi-omics integration and systems biology
  • 3+ years of experience conducting hypothesis-driven research from design through execution and interpretation

Be prepared to speak about your experience regarding the following topics:

  • Scientific and technical expertise is preferred
  • Leadership and proven collaboration abilities is preferred
  • Communication and proven impact within an organization is preferred

The approximate pay range for this position is $97000 to $133000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including, but not limited to knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location.
