Job Description

The Senior Retail Account Specialist (The Home Depot) serves as a critical partner in driving strategic sales execution, category growth, and customer engagement across The Home Depot business. This role collaborates closely with the National Account Manager, Brand Teams, cross-functional business partners, and customer contacts to support growth initiatives, category management strategies, promotional execution, and retailer relationship development.

This position combines account management support, category analytics, business planning, and operational execution responsibilities to help drive sales growth, optimize retail performance, and support commercialization initiatives across assigned product categories and retail channels. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, customer-focused problem solving, presentation development skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.

The Senior Retail Account Specialist will play an active role in supporting retailer growth strategies, identifying market opportunities, analyzing pricing and POS trends, coordinating promotional initiatives, and assisting with forecasting and business review processes. This position serves as a key liaison between internal teams and The Home Depot team to ensure timely execution and alignment of business objectives.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support National Account Manager in execution of strategic and tactical customer growth initiatives across assigned retail accounts and categories
  • Analyze POS, market, pricing, and retail shelf data to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities
  • Support category growth and development initiatives including assortment strategy, category planning, and new category opportunities
  • Develop customer presentations, business reviews, and sales support materials
  • Coordinate promotional planning, merchandising support, product launches, and retail program execution
  • Manage customer operational support activities including deductions, fine management, contracts, price lists, and merchandising calendars
  • Support forecasting, demand planning reviews, and store expansion estimation activities
  • Maintain and strengthen retailer and vendor relationships through consistent communication and collaboration
  • Support analytics integration, market assessments, competitive analysis, and pricing ladder evaluations
  • Coordinate internal and external meetings, customer office hours, and trade show support activities
  • Provide cross-functional support for ad hoc customer requests, reporting needs, and special projects
  • Travel for customer meetings, industry events, and retailer support activities as needed

Critical Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Previous experience working with The Home Depot and within their vendor portals (highly preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Effective presentation development and storytelling capabilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work collaboratively across sales, marketing, operations, and supply chain teams
  • Strong attention to detail and process management skills
  • Knowledge of retail merchandising, category management, and promotional planning principles
  • Ability to analyze pricing, market trends, and competitive positioning
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and proactively
  • Adaptability and flexibility within a fast-paced retail environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

Education/Training Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year College or University (preferred)
  • 3–5 years of experience in retail sales support / account management, category management preferred
  • Experience supporting large retail or strategic accounts preferred
  • Experience utilizing POS reporting and retail analytics tools preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Participation in various Worthington Enterprises training programs as required
  • Travel requirement: less than 10%
