Reporting to a Manager of Quality / Reliability, the Sr. Quality Engineer’s primary duty is to work with minimal supervision and lead cross-functional teams and/or direct report(s) to ensure product reaching end-users maintains Milwaukee's superior quality reputation. This includes identifying a plan, executing risk mitigation and taking a hands-on approach to solve complex issues while communicating timely updates to management. The Sr. Quality Engineer will lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment to develop and implement new, innovative solutions within both the quality team and company-wide. As part of working for Milwaukee Tool, the Sr. Quality Engineer will assist in the launch of many new, exciting products which deliver unique solutions to our end-users.

Administration Responsibilities

  • Lead global teams in assessing root cause analysis of product and factory related issues in order to reduce impact to the business.
  • Serve as the representative to Quality & Reliability on various teams alongside Marketing and Engineering counterparts. Effectively assess and communicate risk, then lead alignment towards mitigation and closure.
  • Manage and create effective corrective/preventive action plans with global production teams to mitigate manufacturing or part quality risks.
  • Research, develop and revise Quality Policies, Procedures, System Instructions, Process Control Plans and Work Instructions.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects as needed to improve quality processes and product quality levels.

Quality Engineering Responsibilities

  • Apply statistical methods such as gauge R & R, design of experiments and statistical process control to quality related issues.
  • Manage, prioritize, and address product issue related projects based on assessed risk level. Use project management tools like action trackers, or similar software.
  • Perform process and quality system audits, as well as functional and teardown analysis of products to ensure conformance to specifications and documented procedures.
  • Determine acceptance quality levels by means of random or targeted sampling techniques. Based on sampling results, drive root cause analysis, own product disposition, and manage corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of:
    • The latest gauging methods, procedures and software and introduce them into the company where appropriate.
    • The latest drawing and test specification standards (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance, etc.)
    • Statistical process control and AQL sampling methodologies
    • The structure and workings of the Milwaukee Quality Management System and relevant certifying agency requirements.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Five or more years of related work experience
  • Previous exposure to quality management including auditing and control plan creation
  • Working knowledge of quality/reliability applications such as Minitab and ReliaSoft
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Nice to have experience: Project Management, Six Sigma, Auditing, Plant Quality, PowerBI,
  • Up to 20% travel is required, including international travel
