PURPOSE:
The Sr. Project Manager leads the end-to-end execution of strategic and operational projects across the organization, ensuring alignment with Credit Union strategy and a strong focus on enhancing member experience. Directs and oversees the Credit Union’s portfolio of initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope and budget, and to the highest standards of quality and service. The Sr. Project Manager promotes project management excellence, supports cross-functional collaboration, and fosters change management and continuous improvement of the Credit Union Project Management program.
Essential Duties:
Strategic Project Oversight
- Collaborate with leadership across the organization to prioritize and execute high-impact projects that support the Credit Union’s strategic plan.
- Create and manage comprehensive project plans, outlining scope, schedule, resources, risks, dependencies, and deliverables.
- Monitor progress, resolve issues, and adjust project approaches as needed to meet evolving organizational goals.
- Provide regular project milestone updates and reporting to the Enterprise Delivery Manager, ensuring alignment and visibility across all strategic initiatives.
Execution & Delivery
- Lead all phases of the project life cycle; planning, initiation, execution, monitoring, and closure, ensuring consistent delivery excellence.
- Define clear and concise project goals, success metrics, and performance indicators in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Facilitate effective project meetings, manage track tasks and milestones, and manage documentation.
- Prepare and deliver accurate, timely project status reports to leadership, including updates on accomplishments, challenges, and risks.
- Manage approved project budgets with a strong focus on financial discipline, ensuring efficient use of resources and strict alignment; proactively identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to optimize spend without compromising quality, timelines, or member impact.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring transparency, collaboration, and alignment.
- Provide clear communication of project changes and their impacts across departments.
- Partner with business units to ensure project readiness, smooth adoption, and effective change management.
Risk & Compliance
- Proactively identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard timelines and deliverables.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory, compliance, and data security requirements across all project activities.
- Comply with federal and state regulations, Credit Union policies, and confidentiality obligations.
Continuous Improvement
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in project delivery and operational outcomes.
- Support the development and refinement of PMO methodologies, tools, templates, and workflows.
- Help maintain the PMO lifecycle and identify process enhancements to streamline project execution and reporting.
Leadership & Support
- Provide guidance to project team members to ensure clarity, engagement, and accountability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support successful outcomes and shared ownership.
- Stay current with industry best practices, tools, and project management trends.
Demonstrate strong regulatory knowledge applicable to this position and understand and comply with government regulations with particular emphasis on the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), US Patriot Act and related regulations.
Actively participate and fulfill expectations in the Credit Union Email Security Awareness Program as outlined in the Information Security Program Acknowledgement document.
QualificationsKnowledge and Skills:
Experience:
Five to seven years of progressive project management experience, preferably within financial services.
Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or hybrid project management methodologies is highly desirable.
Prior experience establishing or contributing to a Project Management Office (PMO) is a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with project management software (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Asana) is highly desirable.
Education:
Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field). Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
