Job Description

Xylem is a Fortune 500 global water solutions company dedicated to advancing sustainable impact and empowering the people who make water work every day. As a leading water technology company with 23,000 employeesoperating in over 150 countries, Xylem is at the forefront of addressing the world's most critical water challenges. We invite passionate individuals to join our team, dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through innovative and sustainable solutions.

Sensus, a Xylem company, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex, integrated product development initiatives as part of the Solutions Team. This role is ideal for a leader who can balance deep engagement in modern, software‑led product development with strong business acumen and commercial focus.

The Senior Project Manager is accountable for driving both execution excellence and business outcomes, ensuring that product and platform investments align with strategic objectives, customer value, and financial performance. A core aspect of this role is the ability to develop, refine, and communicate clear, data‑backed business cases throughout the product lifecycle.

This role operates in an environment where problem statements, solution paths, and priorities may be evolving or loosely defined. The Senior Project Manager is expected to bring structure, clarity, and strategic direction—translating ambiguity into aligned strategies, actionable plans, and measurable outcomes.

The position supports Xylem’s ongoing AI, digital, and software transformation, with emphasis on AI Assisted Software Development, modern cloud delivery models, and systems‑ and software‑driven development approaches. While hardware remains an important component of the overall solution, the primary focus is on integration, platform interoperability, and end‑to‑end solution delivery.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead product solutions through the full product development lifecycle using Stage Gate, Agile, or hybrid methodologies, from ideation through commercial launch.
  • Balance scope, schedule, investment, risk, and business value to support informed decision‑making and delivery execution.
  • Develop, refine, and maintain business cases, including value propositions, cost models, risk trade‑offs, and return‑on‑investment considerations.
  • Assess ambiguous or loosely defined initiatives and refine them into clear objectives, assumptions, roadmaps, and decision points.
  • Drive integration of software, firmware, cloud platforms, AI‑enabled capabilities, and hardware into cohesive, customer‑ready solutions.
  • Advance AI Assisted Software Development practices to improve delivery efficiency, quality, and predictability.
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Business stakeholders to align solution roadmaps, delivery strategies, and investment priorities.
  • Monitor and manage budgets, schedules, risks, and KPIs, recommending corrective or optimization actions when necessary.
  • Own project plans, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies, ensuring transparent communication of status and escalations.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to cross‑functional, matrixed teams across engineering, data, product, and service delivery.
  • Ensure delivered solutions meet expectations for quality, performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Champion continuous improvement, change management, and delivery process modernization.
  • Participate in Xylem Watermark volunteer and community initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline.
  • 7+ years of project or program management experience in complex, cross‑functional environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance product development leadership with strong business and financial acumen.
  • Experience developing and refining business cases to support product and platform investment decisions.
  • Demonstrated comfort operating in ambiguous environments and shaping clarity, alignment, and strategic direction.
  • Experience with AI Assisted Software Development and modern software delivery practices.
  • Proven experience managing projects that include software, firmware, cloud, and hardware components.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management, resource management, and contemporary development methodologies.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, matrixed organizations.
  • Expert‑level proficiency with Atlassian tools (Jira and Confluence).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines while adapting to changing business and technical conditions.

Preferred

  • Experience delivering cloud‑native, SaaS, or platform‑based solutions.
  • Exposure to AI‑enabled products, analytics platforms, or intelligent systems.
  • Experience contributing to or leading development process modernization initiatives.
  • Product analyst experience with Atlassian tool suite including Jira Product Discovery (JPD) and Jira Analytics.

Compensation & Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on skills, experience, and work location and is not typically at the top of the range.

Xylem offers a competitive total rewards package, including Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement.
