Job Description

Position: Senior Project Engineer

1. Role Purpose

The Senior Engineer will be responsible for planning, implementing, integrating, operating and maintaining ICT infrastructure and technology systems.

The position will ensure reliable and secure integration of city-wide ICT systems, applications, data-centre infrastructure and field equipment to support real-time monitoring, centralized operations and data-driven urban service delivery.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Field Infrastructure

  • Supervise deployment, configuration, commissioning and integration of devices, sensors, controllers and edge devices.
  • Coordinate field-level connectivity and device onboarding with the central platform.
  • Validate device data, communication protocols and integration interfaces.
  • Support site surveys, technical inspections, installation and acceptance testing.

B. Project Implementation & Vendor Management

  • Monitor implementation activities against approved project schedules and milestones.
  • Coordinate with System Integrator, OEMs, subcontractors, telecom operators and other technology vendors.
  • Review technical submissions, method statements, test plans, FAT/SAT reports and commissioning documents.
  • Verify equipment installation and configuration against approved specifications.
  • Track technical issues, defects, punch points and corrective actions until closure.

C. Testing, Commissioning & Operations

  • Prepare/review test cases, integration test plans, UAT, FAT and SAT documentation.
  • Support system commissioning and Go-Live activities.
  • Monitor system availability, performance and SLA compliance during operations.
  • Analyze incidents and recurring failures and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
  • Support implementation and O&M and ensure proper documentation.

H. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain architecture, network diagrams, asset registers, configuration records and technical documentation.
  • Prepare periodic project progress, performance and issue reports.
  • Maintain records of incidents, changes, preventive maintenance and system upgrades.
  • Support preparation and review of SOPs, O&M manuals and disaster-recovery procedures.

I. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with Safe City SPOC, Municipal Corporation, Police, Traffic, Water, Transport, Fire, Solid Waste and other stakeholder departments as applicable.
  • Participate in technical review meetings and project steering/coordination meetings.
  • Translate operational requirements of city departments into practical solutions.

3. Educational Qualification

Essential:

  • B.E./B. Tech
  • Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, ITIL or relevant OEM certifications.

4. Experience

  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in ICT infrastructure, system integration, Smart City, e-Governance, ICCC, Data Centre, telecom or large-scale technology projects.
  • Experience in at least one large-scale government, urban infrastructure, Smart City or mission-critical ICT project preferred.
  • Experience coordinating multiple technology vendors/System Integrators is highly desirable.

  • Organizing technical presentations to customers and/or industry groups
  • Monitoring product development outcomes to ensure technical, functional, cost, and timing targets are met In some organizations, may be responsible for managing product regulatory approval process

Experienced level professional that applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Works independently with general supervision. Works to achieve operational targets within the job area with a direct impact on function / sub-function results. Problems faced are difficult but typically not complex.
