As a Senior Project Budget Analyst, you will contribute to the achievement of financial and business objectives through timely monitoring and analysis of budgets and resource data for simple to complex and/or large scale program/project portfolio.

You will work cross-functionally with other departments and functional project leads to complete assigned tasks on time. Responsibilities include also providing mentorship and training to junior team members.

What You’ll Do

  • Administer the daily financial management of simple to complex studies and/or large scale programs for the functional area’s portion of a project budget with minimal supervision
  • Lead preparation of contract modifications and guide team through the contract modification process, ensuring consistency and coordination across multiple projects with the same client
  • Participate in the management of risk
  • Identify/escalate/address risks, update risk management tools, and actively participate in risk meetings
  • Assist with bidding and prepare new award budget revisions with supervision
  • Work closely with management to revise bidding assumptions, provide scope of work descriptions, update the bidding tool, and document bidding assumptions and revision histories
  • Serve as a mentor and provide training to team members on project financials and project management
  • Interact with sponsor management and other departments on status or topics related to the study(s) they are assigned to
  • These topics can include, but are not limited to, scope of work, contract modifications, timelines, and cost subject matter
  • Review and make recommendations for continuous improvement

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, mathematics, or related field or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job comparable to 5 years
  • 3+ years complex project management experience, including allocation of resources against budget forecasting and completion/coordination of related quantitative and analytical tasks is preferred
  • In some cases, an equivalency consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent budgeting, forecasting, and resource management skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Proficient in problem solving
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, etc.) for analysis and presentation of data
  • Solid understanding of project management principles and application
  • Know how to multitask
  • Able of working independently
  • Capable of providing mentorship and training and promoting teamwork in a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to adjust to changing priorities
  • Cooperative and supportive team member
