We are seeking an experienced and driven Product Owner to join our Product Management team in a hybrid work model based in Chicago, IL. In this role, you will work closely with the Program Manager, Business Product Manager, and Platform Development Teams to maximize the value of the product and the work of the development team. You will serve as the primary decision-maker for the Product Backlog — translating business requirements into clear, prioritized features in Azure DevOps and ensuring alignment across internal business units and development teams.

Key Contributions & Responsibilities

• Maximize the value of the product and the work of the Platform Development Team by owning and driving the Product Backlog.
• Act as Product Owner for larger, more complex projects with high organizational value; serve as the key decision-maker regarding what features the product will have.
• Create, maintain, and prioritize the Product Backlog according to business value for the life of the project; communicate priorities clearly to the development team.
• Define and communicate the vision of what is to be built; assist with the clarification and elaboration of epics, themes, and features in Azure DevOps.
• Work closely with key stakeholders across the digital organization, collecting business requirements and translating them into actionable development work.
• Make decisions on release dates and content; represent business partners by interfacing and engaging directly with the business.
• Participate in Sprint Planning meetings, Reveals, and Retrospectives; inspect product progress at the end of every Sprint and accept or reject work completed by the Development Team.
• ct as the voice of the team, communicating status externally; champion the Agile community and help advance Agile practices within the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management from time to time.

Team Structure & Work Environment

• You will work as a member of the Product Management team, partnering closely with the Program Manager, Business Product Manager, and Platform Development Teams.
• You will work with internal business units to collect requirements and bring them to the platform development team; primary team members are located in Chicago, IL and Peoria, IL.
• This is a hybrid role based in Chicago, IL. Candidates must be local to the Chicago area or willing and able to relocate prior to their start date.

Requirements

Candidate Requirements

Education & Experience

• 8+ years of overall experience required.
• Four-year Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Marketing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.

Required Technical Skills

• 8+ years of experience as a Product Owner.
• 5+ years of experience leading a technical team while simultaneously managing multiple projects.
• 3+ years of experience with Agile methodology.
• 2+ years of experience with Azure DevOps.
• Demonstrated leadership experience — able to own the product and organize required meetings and sessions to move development forward independently.

Desired Technical Skills

• Product Owner certification (CSPO or equivalent) is preferred.•

• Proactive and self-driven — able to push projects forward independently with a demonstrated ability to communicate appropriately and ensure a team’s success.
• Domain expertise in business applications with a strong understanding of how digital products deliver business value.
• Strong accountability, planning and organization skills, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate sensitive, emotional, or potentially controversial situations effectively.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Salary expectations: 120,000-145,000 per annual
