Job Description

1. JOB SUMMARY

Every seller relationship with Amazon begins at the same place: registration. The onboarding experience is the very first impression sellers have of what it means to sell on Amazon.JP — and how fast, how clear, and how trusted that experience feels will determine whether they launch at all, and how confidently they do it.

In this role, you will serve as the Senior Product Manager owning the seller registration and onboarding experience for Amazon Japan. Your primary customer is the seller — specifically the thousands of domestic sellers who arrive at Amazon Japan each year hoping to build their business here. You will develop a deep understanding of where they get stuck, what slows them down, and what makes the difference between a seller who launches within days and one who drops off entirely. That understanding drives every product decision you make.

The scope of this role is both strategic and hands-on. You will own the roadmap for how sellers are guided through identity and document verification, how they receive feedback on their submissions, and how quickly they reach their first day of selling. You will lead the design and launch of an AI-powered onboarding assistant — a conversational tool that meets sellers where they are, answers their questions in real time, and gives them immediate, actionable feedback on the documents they submit. You will also have the opportunity to revamp the entire onboarding environment that brings together guidance, tooling, and support to meaningfully compress the time from registration to live listing.

This is a rare opportunity to own the full seller entry experience end-to-end — from first click to first sale — at one of the world's largest e-commerce marketplaces.

Key job responsibilities
- Own the product strategy and roadmap for seller registration and onboarding in Amazon Japan, with a focus on reducing time-to-launch and improving seller experience at every stage of the funnel
- Develop a deep understanding of the seller onboarding journey — where friction exists, where sellers drop off, and what separates fast-launching sellers from those who stall — and translate those insights into prioritized product improvements
- Lead the design and build AI-powered onboarding tools that converse with sellers, answers questions in real time, and provides immediate feedback on document and identity submissions
- Own the revamp of the onboarding environment to create a faster, clearer, and more supportive path from registration to live selling
- Define and track key metrics across the onboarding funnel; present data-driven updates to senior leadership on a regular cadence
- Serve as the primary liaison between Japan's Marketplace Trust team and global product and policy organizations, ensuring JP-specific seller experience requirements and regulatory constraints are reflected in the global roadmap
- Contribute to long-range business planning by defining the vision and investment strategy for the registration domain in JP

About Amazon

Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one.

Together, Amazonians research and develop new technologies from Amazon Web Services to Alexa on behalf of our customers: shoppers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world.

Our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our actions, goals, projects, programs, and inventions begin and end with the customer top of mind.

You'll also hear us say that at Amazon, it's always "Day 1." What do we mean? That our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon's very first day - to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and focus on delighting our customers.
