Job Description

What to Expect

In this role, you will own the product vision and roadmap for Inventory, Product Costing, Manufacturing Accounting, and Work Order capabilities that power factory operations and financial integrity at global scale. You will define how materials, labor, and overhead flow from the shop floor into accurate inventory valuations, cost of goods sold, and management reporting enabling factories to build faster while finance closes with confidence.

This will involve partnerning with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Controllership, FP&A, and Engineering to ship systems used daily across Gigafactories and vehicle/energy production.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the product vision and multi-quarter roadmap for Inventory, Product Costing, Manufacturing Accounting, and Work Order modules—aligned to factory UPH, inventory accuracy, and close timelines
  • Define end-to-end value streams spanning work order lifecycle (create → release → issue/return → complete/close), inventory transactions (receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments, WIP), standard/actual costing, variances, and absorption into financials
  • Translate manufacturing and accounting requirements into clear PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and success metrics; prioritize ruthlessly for impact vs. complexity
  • Drive costing excellence: BOM/routing cost rolls, standard cost maintenance, purchase price and usage variances, labor/overhead rates, WIP valuation, and inventory revaluation with full auditability
  • Ensure manufacturing accounting integrity: period-end processes, inventory subledger ↔ GL reconciliation, COGS recognition, capitalization vs. expense rules, multi-entity/multi-currency, and SOX-ready controls
  • Partner with Engineering (backend, data, integrations, UX) on architecture trade-offs, API contracts with MES/ERP/WMS/PLM, data quality, and performance at factory scale
  • Lead discovery with operators, planners, cost accountants, and controllers; run workshops, shadow shop-floor and close processes, and validate solutions before broad rollout
  • Measure outcomes: inventory accuracy, WIP aging, cost variance root-cause cycle time, close days, exception rates, automation of manual journals, and user adoption
  • Orchestrate cross-functional launches across sites and regions; define rollout, training, cutover, and hypercare with clear RACI
  • Raise the bar on product craft: crisp specs, decision logs, experiment design where useful, and executive-ready narratives on risk, dependency, and ROI

What You’ll Bring

  • 7+ years in product management (or equivalent), with 3+ years owning ERP/MES-adjacent or manufacturing finance products (inventory, costing, WIP, or work orders)
  • Deep fluency in manufacturing operations and cost accounting concepts: BOMs, routings, work centers, standard costing, variances, WIP, inventory valuation methods, and period close
  • Proven delivery of complex, multi-system products with integrations (e.g., MES, WMS, procurement, GL) and high data-integrity requirements
  • Ability to go deep with engineers and accountants and be comfortable with data models, transaction flows, edge cases, and control design not only UI polish
  • Strong stakeholder leadership across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Controllership, Internal Audit, and IT; calm under close pressure and production incidents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; experience briefing directors/VPs with clear options and recommendations
  • Experience in automotive, battery, high-volume discrete manufacturing, SAP/Oracle/NetSuite or custom ERP modernization, or multi-plant global rollouts is a plus
  • Degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, CS, or equivalent experience
