Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Product Support Trainer to join our Aircrew Training Team at Whiteman AFB, MO. The qualified applicant will become an integral part of the 13th Bomb Squadron’s B-2 Formal Training Unit (FTU), working with 2 other individuals in gatekeeping the B-2 Simulator and Cockpit Procedure Trainer and performing courseware development for aircrew instruction across 5 different pilot syllabi in an office of 11 personnel embedded in an Air Force squadron. Additionally, this individual will maintain a relationship with the B-2 maintenance activity on the base to arrange aircraft ground training, monitor malfunction trends, and share information with the instructors for tailoring classroom and simulator instruction.

Job Duties

  • Perform courseware development across the breadth of B-2 pilot syllabi, which includes Initial Qualification Training, Aircraft Commander Upgrade, Flight Instructor Course, Requalification Training, and Basic Aircraft Qualification/Senior Officer Qualification. This includes:
  • Manage a quarterly update schedule, where instructors review courseware on 5 instructional blocks consisting of PowerPoint and Word documents.
  • Track changes to the courseware and provide standardization of formatting, fonts, labelling, etc.
  • Manage intake of out-of-cycle courseware changes triggered by student feedback, technical order changes, or data correction.
  • Submit updated courseware to the contract prime at the end of the quarterly update.
  • Make inputs to syllabus changes via participation in the Courseware Working Group chaired by Detachment 12, ACC Training Support Squadron.
  • Coordinate with operational and training B-2 squadrons, weapons school, and test activities to develop the simulator schedule.
  • Make simulator schedule changes to meet operational and training needs.
  • Be assigned as the primary scheduler for academic and simulator events for classes of B-2 student pilots completing FTU syllabus training.
  • Deconflict maintenance and pilot training requirements to produce and maintain a weekly schedule for the Cockpit Procedure Trainers.
  • Work with B-2 Maintenance Production to arrange access to aircraft for ground training events.

Basic Qualifications: Principal Product Trainer

  • 9 years of training / maintenance experience in lieu of a degree or Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of experience OR a Master’s Degree and 3 years of experience. - Academic study in related fields and experience in related disciplines may be considered for individuals not meeting all requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in curriculum development including formative evaluation.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office software suite.
  • Previous experience in design and production of Instructional Systems Design materials.
  • Minimum of 9 semester hours of graduate level coursework in areas:
    Instructional Methodology, Tests and Measurements, Educational
    Psychology, Curriculum Development, and Learning Theory - M ay consider experience as a substitute for the educational requirements
  • Have attended a military ISD course, or civilian equivalent, or complete AF ISD course within 6 months of hire - M ay consider experience as a substitute for the educational requirements
  • Applicants must have a DOD Secret clearance, with eligibility to obtain a DOD Top Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs upon hiring.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of military aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Attended a military Instructional Systems Design course, or civilian equivalent, or complete AF ISD course
  • Master’s degree in education or related discipline.
  • Former B-2 Crew Chief or system-specific maintenance (JET, Electro/Environmental, Hydro, Avionics, Weapons, etc).
  • Completion of training in Instructional Systems Development.
  • Possess an active Top Secret DOD clearance and be SCI eligible

Primary Level Salary Range: $70,100.00 - $105,100.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $87,400.00 - $131,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
