Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal Flight Test Technician or Sr Principal Flight Test Technician.
The Flight Test Technician performs production and flight line testing and maintenance. Will support and perform flight operations including but not limited to pre and post flight inspections, refueling operations, aircraft towing and jacking. Can perform repairs, modifications, installations, and test mechanical systems.
Performs duties / functions of test personnel in area(s) of assignment. Determines and performs the sequence for installing, removing, maintaining, repairing critical components / systems working with engineering.
Performs testing, rework, and repair in various fields of specialization. Applies theories and skills in accomplishing assigned tasks. Works from electronic data, blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, technical orders, engineering orders, schematics, block diagrams and other technical documents on mechanical, hydraulics, power plant, and/or structures.
Performs modifications and adjustments as necessary.
Performs mechanical maintenance, repair, testing and troubleshooting in support of specific test objectives.
Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains various types of complex equipment, components, devices, or systems.
Notifies lead personnel or supervision of any / all malfunctions, defects and damages to equipment, material, and product.
Checks work for completeness and accuracy.
Position requires ability to interpret and use drawings and engineering documents to repair, maintain, or modify complex systems.
Position may require domestic and international travel.
Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends as required.
Must be willing to work utilizing A&P privileges in accordance with FAA regulations.
Must be willing to work utilizing IA (if applicable) in accordance with FAA regulations.
Strong communicative skills of professionalism and tact required with contact between NG support groups as well as outside customers and organizations with significant importance.

High School Diploma and 4 years aircraft maintenance experience
FAA Airframe an Powerplant (A&P) license required
Must have an active US Government Secret Clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Class II Medical, and willingness to fly on board aircraft, including experimental category.
Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 50 pounds, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spaces
Experience with wire harness building and repair
Experience working with structures, drilling, riveting
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
This position is for first shift with occasional weekend shift coverage and support, and ability to adjust shift for business needs.
This position has limited travel up to 25% of the time.

Experience with operating flight line ground equipment
Experience with flight test operations
Experience with FAA regulations, Prep Items, and possess the ability to read and locate technical data including aircraft manuals and drawings.
Experience working on experimental certificated aircraft.
FAA Inspector Authorization (A&P IA)
Primary Level Salary Range: $66,600.00 - $111,000.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $79,100.00 - $131,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
