About the Team
Our oCHRO team helps CHROs and their organisations design Workday as a connected operational fabric, using a common process taxonomy and operational maps as our shared language with customers. In practice that means we architect the deterministic rails – operating models, business processes, configurations and controls – that must be 100% correct and auditable, and then deliberately place AI and agents on top where they can safely recommend, predict or automate without ever bypassing those rails.
Our work is hands‑on with design closure, governance and decision‑making: we use structured frameworks to keep problem statements, guiding principles and strategic objectives tightly linked, and we focus on measuring outcomes rather than ticking feature checklists.
You’ll join a senior group that works directly with senior customer stakeholders, pilots new AI‑enabled methods in EMEA, and treats Workday’s platform as “enterprise rails for AI agents” – balancing speed and innovation with the accountability and trust our customers expect.

About the Role
In this Sr Principal Functional Consultant, oCHRO Architect role, you will be the senior HCM solution architect on Workday deployment programmes, reporting to the Sr Director of oCHRO Consulting Services. You will partner closely with customer executives, project leadership and workstream leads to own the end‑to‑end HCM solution architecture and drive design closure on time and on budget.
You will guide cross‑functional design decisions using Workday’s guiding principles and business process taxonomy, facilitate structured decision‑making, and ensure that design recommendations are tightly aligned to customer problem statements, strategic objectives and value drivers. You will lead or support key design workshops, constructively challenge partners and customers where needed, and shape post‑go‑live roadmaps so that customers continue to realise value from the Workday platform.
This role requires regular interaction with German‑speaking customer stakeholders across the full customer lifecycle.
About You
Basic Qualifications
10+ years of functional experience in HCM software solutions including 5+ years of implementation consulting experience in HR technology or business transformation
Proven experience leading end‑to‑end HCM solution design on complex, multi‑country programmes
Deep knowledge of Workday HCM
Fluent in German and English
Other Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to act as a strategic advisor to HR leadership, connecting solution recommendations to business strategy, key metrics and executive priorities
Strong track record driving decision‑making across diverse stakeholder groups, including use of structured frameworks and escalation paths
Experience refining HR operating models, process taxonomies and governance structures for global organisations, including global vs. local design and template protection
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with systems integrators, reviewing and challenging proposed designs to align with Workday best practices and reduce delivery risk
Comfort working in high‑stakes environments where timelines, budgets and quality are tightly managed, with a focus on risk identification, mitigation and clear, executive‑ready communication
Under normal circumstance, ability to travel up to 40% of time as customer needs require

Listed below is the base salary range applicable to this position. Workday pay ranges (and the precise pay offered to the successful candidate) are based on a number of objective criteria such as relevant experience and skills, and educational qualifications, level of responsibility, demands of the role, work location and business need. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants awarded by Workday Inc.
