Position Specific Description

The Senior Power Generation Division (PGD) Engineer role focuses on generator and rotating electrical machine reliability across the wind fleet, responsible for leading root cause analysis, reliability strategy, and data-driven performance improvements to reduce failures and O&M cost.

Scope & Impact

  • Own reliability performance for wind turbine rotating electrical machines (motors/generators) across the fleet
  • Lead complex failure investigations and systemic issue resolution using structured RCA methodologies
  • Drive fleet-wide reliability improvements through engineering solutions, repair strategies, and data insights
  • Define and standardize repair specifications, vendor quality requirements, and maintenance practices
  • Influence business decisions and cost outcomes through technical and financial analysis

The Ideal Candidate Would Have the Following:

  • 4+ years of experience with generators, motors, or rotating electrical machines across design, manufacturing, repair, or field environments.
  • Strong expertise in electrical machine theory, electromagnetic behavior, and machine dynamics.
  • Experience with troubleshooting electrical machines.
  • Proven capability in root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode identification.
  • Experience developing repair procedures, specifications, and engineering standards.
  • Strong data-driven mindset, including analysis of failure data and fleet trends.
  • Ability to translate technical findings into actionable business and financial recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Generator or motor engineering (OEM, repair shop, field service or fleet engineering environment).
  • Strong exposure to failure diagnostics, reliability engineering, and rotating equipment lifecycle management.

Wind experience is preferred, but not required.

Must be willing to travel (~20%) to sites and vendor facilities, as well as climb wind turbines.

Employees in this role have responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, selection of areas for investigation, and development of novel concepts.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans and develops engineering projects concerned with unique or controversial complexities which have important impact on major company programs
  • Acts as technical liaison to individuals within and outside the organization with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to individual's field
  • Completes assignments given in broad terms concerning general objectives and limitations
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's - Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
