Job Description

The world depends on the data we power and cool™. Vertiv is a global leader in critical digital infrastructure for applications in data centers, communication networks, and commercial and industrial environments. The AI revolution is rewriting the rules of digital infrastructure, demanding solutions that move as one. Vertiv delivers end-to-end infrastructure where power, cooling, IT, and services work in unison - and, increasingly, where software is the layer that ties it all together. With our industry-leading technologies and global services network, we are fueling the revolution of the digital world, keeping technology ecosystems running efficiently and without interruption. Built for multiple compute generations ahead, Vertiv empowers customers to stay resilient, optimized, and future-ready. As a publicly traded, S&P 500 company (NYSE: VRT), Vertiv operates globally, serving customers in over 130 countries with $10.2 billion in sales.

* for Internal Candidates

AI is pushing data centers toward higher density, faster deployment, and far greater operational complexity - and software is the layer that makes all of it manageable. Controls, monitoring, and digital services are central to how customers evaluate, buy, and operate critical infrastructure today, and Vertiv is significantly expanding its investment in how that story is told to the market.

The Sr. Portfolio Marketing Manager – Software position is a high-visibility opportunity to build and scale Vertiv's software portfolio marketing strategy - shaping the narrative, go-to-market motion, and marketing systems for a rapidly growing part of the business. Software expertise lives across engineering and product teams. Your job is to unify that innovation into one coherent, category-defining story, working closely with a senior software leader who owns the broader software strategy, and with the technical leaders and teams behind it.

This is a senior, ownership-driven strategic role for someone who wants to build and scale rather than maintain an existing playbook. You'll partner with software engineering and product leadership, and collaborate closely with sales, brand, communications, and regional marketing teams globally to bring the software story to market.

What makes this role different:

  • High-growth, high-visibility. As a fast-growing and strategically important area within Vertiv, this role gives you the mandate to build a marketing strategy that matches its trajectory.
  • One story, many teams. Software talent and IP live across dedicated teams. You'll be the connective tissue that turns distributed technical work into a single, cohesive narrative.
  • Outcomes over features. Every narrative starts with what software unlocks for customers - visibility, uptime, faster response, lower risk, smarter decisions - with the technology following the outcome.
  • Category leadership. You'll help define how the market understands Vertiv's role in controls, monitoring, and digital services as AI reshapes the data center.

Responsibilities

  • Own the software portfolio narrative for Vertiv including controls, monitoring, digital services, and related platforms while establishing a single, cohesive point of view across business units.
  • Partner with the senior leadership, product leaders and software engineering to translate distributed technical innovation into unified positioning and messaging.
  • Build and maintain the marketing infrastructure for software portfolio marketing: processes, launch frameworks, templates, and sales enablement systems.
  • Develop and lead go-to-market strategy and launch plans for software products and platforms, including how software connects to and elevates Vertiv's power, thermal, and services offerings.
  • Build detailed persona profiles for the software buying group distinct from traditional buyers.
  • Own positioning and messaging for the software portfolio; serve as the marketing subject matter expert on software content across written, media, event, and sales channels.
  • Design and deliver sales enablement materials and training that equip global and regional sales teams to sell controls, monitoring, and digital services with confidence.
  • Track software, digital infrastructure, and monitoring/DCIM market trends and the competitive landscape to continually sharpen positioning.
  • Present software portfolio strategy, plans, and results to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across brand, communications, digital/web, demand generation, and business-unit marketing to align software initiatives with broader marketing objectives.
  • Apply Vertiv Operating System discipline - best-practice sharing, continuous improvement, and management cadence with clear metrics and accountability - to a function that is still being defined.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years in product marketing, product management, or technical marketing, with meaningful experience in software, SaaS, or platform marketing.
  • Experience building a marketing function, program, or go-to-market engine - comfortable defining the playbook rather than executing an existing one.
  • Background in data center, IT, digital infrastructure, industrial software, or a related technology ecosystem; experience with controls, monitoring, DCIM, or energy/asset management software is a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to translate deep technical capability into clear, outcome-driven narratives for both technical and business audiences.
  • Track record of unifying input from multiple stakeholders or teams into one coherent strategy - this role requires influence without direct authority across business units.
  • Experience partnering with senior technical and business leaders, including comfort presenting strategy and results to executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders across geographies, with a strong bias toward action in ambiguous, still-forming environments.
  • Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to tailor findings for audiences ranging from engineering to the C-suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills, high attention to detail, and a builder's mindset.
