Are you a seasoned engineer with a passion for safeguarding and optimizing critical infrastructure? Join our dynamic Facilities & Engineering Asset Management team as a Plant & Reliability Engineer, where you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our campus-wide facilities, utilities, and equipment at both our South San Francisco and Dixon sites. In this multifaceted position, you'll combine hands-on system ownership with strategic data analysis and project management expertise to lead initiatives that enhance system uptime, implement reliability-centered maintenance practices, and drive continuous improvement across high-stakes environments.
This dual-focused role offers a unique opportunity to influence essential infrastructure, support cutting-edge scientific endeavors, and uphold our commitment to operational excellence and safety. You'll serve as a multi-skilled engineering resource for our campus-based teams while acting as a subject matter expert (SME) for identified systems and areas of expertise. Your technical knowledge and strategic insights will help us build and maintain significant infrastructure that enables science and protects our right to operate seamlessly.
Lead Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) Implementation – Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure site facilities, utilities, and equipment are maintained and operated using RCM principles; apply RCM to GMP and Non-GMP equipment across campuses to increase uptime and optimize Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RMA) of systems.
Perform Criticality Analysis and Failure Assessment – Use existing databases (SAP CMMS, Facilities Data Historian, Building Automation Systems) to perform Pareto analysis, provide subject matter expert input to equipment criticality and risk ranking processes, and identify actionable trends and emerging patterns.
Drive Continuous Improvement Through Data-Driven Metrics – Participate in Daily Huddles, produce and use performance metrics to monitor equipment reliability programs, partner with cross-functional teams for data collection and analysis, and prepare the organization to support continuous improvements in reliability.
Lead Root Cause Analysis and Problem Investigations – Ensure timely leadership, investigation, and analysis of equipment failures through structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies; collaborate with equipment owners to address emerging maintenance and operational issues.
Provide Technical System Ownership and Asset Lifecycle Management – Ensure equipment performance meets KPIs, maintain current engineering documentation and risk assessments, define maintenance strategies and critical spare parts programs, and provide condition assessments throughout the asset lifecycle.
Integrate Reliability into Capital Projects – Ensure reliability and maintainability principles are incorporated into design phases of capital projects; drive collection of system and parts data for operations handover; create Maintenance Strategies, Work Instructions, and Maintenance Plans; provide design input and oversee FUE equipment installation.
Develop and Execute Asset Management Strategy – Lead implementation of the Asset Management Strategy including maintenance program coordination; develop strategic capital improvement plans; assess repair versus replacement options; and ensure maintenance strategies align with equipment criticality and industry best practices.
