What is your role?

The Senior Production Planner is responsible for developing and managing production plans that optimize manufacturing operations while ensuring alignment with customer demand, inventory objectives, and resource availability. This role serves as a key link between Supply Chain, Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, and global teams to support on-time delivery, improve planning performance, and proactively manage risks that could impact production continuity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage production schedules to support efficient manufacturing operations while aligning with customer demand, inventory goals, and available resources.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report key planning and operational metrics such as OTP, PLT, order dating, late backlog, and schedule attainment to ensure performance targets are met.
  • Partner closely with Operations and Planning teams to evaluate capacity constraints, balance workloads, and align production plans with business and customer requirements.
  • Analyze supply and demand gaps, identify risks to service or production continuity, and drive mitigation and recovery plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with regional and global teams, Purchasing, Operations, Engineering, and other stakeholders to resolve shortages, backorders, engineering changes, and unexpected production disruptions.
  • Utilize SAP planning tools and transactions to manage production orders, support planning execution, and maintain planning accuracy.
  • Review and maintain planning-related master data and system parameters to improve MRP output and overall planning effectiveness.
  • Generate and analyze reports related to production adherence, capacity, utilization, inventory performance, and service levels to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on increasing planning efficiency, reducing waste, improving service, and optimizing inventory.
  • Act as a key point of escalation for critical planning and supply issues, ensuring timely communication, alignment, and resolution.
  • Partner with other Corning sites and global teams to successfully meet customer requirements and ensure network alignment.
  • Provide guidance, knowledge sharing, and informal leadership to team members as needed, helping strengthen planning processes and best practices.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, International Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong SAP experience, including planning-related transactions and production order management.
  • Solid understanding of production processes, capacity planning, inventory management, MRP, and material flow.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other planning/reporting tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and global environments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
  • Advanced English communication skills.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • APICS/CPIM certification.
  • Experience in a global manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of ERP master data management and inventory optimization practices.
  • Experience supporting product transitions, engineering changes, or complex supply chain operations.
