About the role

The Senior Payroll Accountant is responsible for executing full-cycle accounting processes for assigned sections of the balance sheet and related business processes in compliance with company standards. Will partner cross-functionally to understand the business transaction and ensure that transactional activity is complete and coded accurately in both the Oracle cloud and General Ledger. This position will be critical in ensuring Payroll budget, financial statements are accurate for all payroll accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance and reconciliation of all payroll related general ledger accounts, weekly costing reports and balancing. Books journal entries for all payroll runs (on-cycle & off-cycle), reconcile payroll accounts, ad hoc reporting, reporting metrics, and completing analysis as requested by financial analysts, internal and external audit and management.
  • Participates in all aspects of the month-end close (assigned accruals, assigned reconciliations, analysis of accounts, etc.) that conform to GAAP in a timely and accurate manner. Reconciles an assigned set of general ledger accounts, proposing corrections as needed. Reconciles all payroll and payroll tax related accounts on a quarterly basis. Ensuring timely and accurate quarterly review of all assigned accounts.
  • Responsible for payroll banking information using CashPro and overseeing data exchange with the bank daily for manuals as well as payroll processing. Processes stop payments and voids as requested. Respond to and resolve all internal and external inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Weekly costing reconciliation to ensure that the GL and Oracle data are in sync. Works with other departments to ensure that transactional activity is coded accurately, and financial reporting integrity is maintained. Identifying and proactively researching costing errors to ensure the GL entries for Payroll functions are accurate. Educating the payroll team of any costing issues.

Knowledge, skills & abilities requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university,
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3-5 years of experience in handling complex accounting concepts specific to Payroll and Payroll Tax accounting
  • Must be able to work independently to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects
  • Must be able to drive continuous business process improvement, primarily through the use of technologies
  • Working experience with Oracle is a plus
  • Strong systems knowledge and/or experience working through ERP integrations, preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Working conditions & physical requirements

This will be a hybrid role required to be onsite at the corporate office on specified days. The work environment generally involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and occasionally requires carrying, moving and setting up of computers, for example desktops, monitors, printers, and other small hardware in the testing lab.
