Job Description

Why we are here

Tony’s Chocolonely is committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. We are an impact company that makes chocolate, not a chocolate company that makes an impact. With incredibly tasty chocolate, we lead by example, demonstrating that ethical practices and success can go hand in hand. Through Tony's Open Chain (TOC), mission allies like Albert Heijn, Ben & Jerry's, Jokolade, and Aldi have embraced a fairer, more transparent supply chain for their chocolate too.

Tony’s Open Chain aims for systemic change in the cocoa industry, focusing on higher cocoa prices, human rights and environmental protection. Together with all its partners, Tony's Open Chain works towards a future where cocoa farmers are enabled to earn at least a living income, where children can go to school, learn and play and where forests are protected.

What you will do

We are looking for a Sr. Partnership Specialist to build trusted, high-impact partnerships with cooperatives in Côte d’Ivoire and translate Tony’s Open Chain ambitions into action. You will coordinate program implementation across Human Rights, Climate & Environment and Cooperative Strengthening, align internal and external stakeholders, and make sure our investments, partnerships and impact programs deliver tangible results for farmers, cooperatives and the wider cocoa sector. You report to the Country Director and lead the local Partnership team.

All wrapped up

  • Drive program delivery You translate quarterly impact program plans into clear monthly implementation plans, coordinate activities across Human Rights, Climate & Environment and Cooperative Strengthening, and keep delivery on track across cooperatives.

  • Be the partnership anchor You act as the trusted advisor and primary operational contact for partner cooperatives, keeping communication flowing, building alignment and helping partnerships grow stronger, more transparent and more effective.

  • Make plans happen You coordinate annual premium plans, quarterly meetings, implementation updates and follow-up actions, making sure activities are scheduled, communicated, documented and delivered with quality.

  • Keep us sharp on progress You track implementation progress, flag risks or delays early, coordinate reporting and KPI updates, and gather impact stories and results that help us show what is changing on the ground.

  • Lead the team You support collaboration across specialists and program assistants, and nurture engagement, growth and performance through coaching and regular feedback.

Requirements

  • You hold a relevant university degree.

  • You have 5+ years of relevant experience in the cocoa sector, ideally with strong exposure to cooperative partnerships, program implementation and field realities.

  • You have experience working with cooperatives, traders, exporters and/or implementation partners, and know how to build alignment between different stakeholders.

  • You are a strong communicator in cross-cultural settings and are fluent in French and English.

  • You are confident with planning, reporting, KPI tracking and turning program priorities into practical implementation plans.

  • You are ready to travel at short notice, including regular visits to cooperatives, farmers and communities — around 10 days per month on average.

  • Experience with voluntary certification schemes such as Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance or Organic, and/or process innovation or digitalization platforms, is a plus.

  • You believe wholeheartedly in Tony’s mission and live our core values: in it together, entrepreneurial, outspoken, make you smile and raise the bar.

Our benefits

At Tony's you will get the opportunity to be part of something extraordinary; first and foremost, by making real impact in the world but also enjoying the nice benefits we provide as you help us succeed. We offer a wide range of additional benefits, including a company bonus, 28 holidays, medical insurance, field travel allowance, but also inspirational team updates and unforgettable events. The gross fulltime annual salary (including 13th month) for this role, depending on your experience and skills is between 26.000.000 and 33.000.000 CFA.

Sounds like you?

About Tony's Chocolonely

Tony’s Chocolonely is an impact company that makes chocolate, committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. And not just the cocoa in our chocolate, but in all chocolate worldwide.

Tony's Chocolonely was founded in 2005 by 3 journalists from the Dutch TV show ‘Keuringsdienst van Waarde’ after they discovered that the world’s largest chocolate manufacturers were buying cocoa from plantations that used illegal labor. Since then, we've dedicated our efforts to raising awareness of and eliminating inequality in the cocoa industry, becoming the #1 chocolate brand in the Netherlands.

With incredibly tasty chocolate, we lead by example and show the world that chocolate can be made differently: in taste, packaging and the way we do business with cocoa farmers. Starting with paying them a higher price.

Alone, we’ll end exploitation in our cocoa supply chain, but together we can change the industry across the globe. That's why we invite everyone to join our commitment. 'Cause it's only together that we'll end exploitation in cocoa.
