Senior Operations Manager

Huntsman is seeking a Senior Operations Manager supporting the Conroe facility Division located in Conroe This position will report to the Site Manager

Job Scope

The Senior Operations Manager will oversee the operations at the Conroe facility and will be responsible for ensuring the safe and compliant operation of the site. The Manager will build and develop processes and procedures to support strategic direction in Operations and will establish operations initiatives for improvement in safety, delivery, quality, cost, and employee relations.

In summary, as the Senior Operations Manager, you will:

• Be accountable for adhering to all Corporate and plant policies, including OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, and TECQ air, water, and waste regulations.
• Drive improvement in the safety culture at the facility.
• Ensure employees are fully trained in, committed to, and conduct their activities in accordance with all aspects of Huntsman Safety and Quality systems.
• Develop and maintain an effective plan to achieve a high-performance operations organization; establish policies to ensure adequate acquisition of talent, management development, and succession plans.
• Manage employee performance by setting expectations, providing guidance, feedback, and development for career progression and performance improvement.
• Lead reliability, compliance, quality, and safety programs for the assigned area; ensure required government and/or environmental regulations are met.
• Maximize reliability to avoid unscheduled shutdowns resulting in interruption of supply to customers.
• Monitor production and manpower levels to ensure continued efficiency while anticipating problems and assisting with developing contingencies.
• Lead and support the implementation of site CI programs and the incorporation of Operational Excellence strategies.
• Provide strong functional partnership to the Supply Chain function to achieve optimal inventory levels for raw materials and finished goods.
• Work effectively within the matrix organization to enlist assistance from support groups.
• Collaborate closely with the Site Manager in the successful implementation of Organizational Transformation initiatives.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

Education required

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferred in Chemical/Petrochemical experience, as well as PSM or equivalent work experience in a directly related function.

Experience required

• 10+ years of experience directly managing and developing employees in an industrial plant environment, with demonstrated results.

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong leadership and employee development capabilities.
• Ability to drive safety culture improvements and maintain compliance standards.
• Strong organizational and operational management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, including safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee relations.
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively in a matrix organization.
• Strategic thinking and process improvement mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a large site operation manager or a small/medium site manager preferred.
• Experience in Organizational Transformation.
• Knowledge of Process Safety Management standards and procedures governing safe operation of EPA RMP and PSM-covered facilities.
• Six Sigma or Lean experience preferred.

Working Environment

• Industrial plant environment.
• Standard operational and site leadership responsibilities within a manufacturing facility.
